Good things to do to a king/linkpin front end

the goods. sway-a-way urethane snubbers, aluminium spindle nut clamps and spindle/carrier gussets. $11, $17 and $14 respectivly.

here's the reason for the new snubbers. the original rubber ones were cracked and deteriorated.

here's the positioning of the gussets on the spindle and carrier. i found that the carrier gussets need a little grinding to fit flush on the carrier.

all welded up. i welded a little bit at a time and waited for it to cool down. these parts can weaken if they get too hot.

here's how to install the snubbers. i put the spindle/carrier back on and used it as a fulcrum and a 2 x 4 as a lever to drive them on. like my shoes?

all ready for reassembly. i repacked the wheel bearings, they were in need. the new spindle nut clamps replace the two lock nuts that really don't work all that well. the nuts make bearing adjustments much easier.

here's the drivers side tie rod with a section of angle iron welded on for strength.

i did all this today. maybe 3 or 4 hours for the whole thing.
