I've attempted to compile a list of where all the parts on the buggy originated from. I have taken parts from 6 other cars, some i still own and some i don't.
i consider this collection of parts to be the best i've had on one vehicle.
it took 6 cars with few good parts to make one off road car with all the good stuff.
Parts from 61 camo baja:
4 Bilstein shocks, 1 bilstein steering damper
VDO oil pressure and temperature and senders
"poly-baja" seat (passenger side)
"perma-cool" 4 pass oil cooler, the best.
master cylinder and wheel cylinders
Parts from 65 parts bug:
front wiring harness
brake pedal pushrod
Parts from 68 parts bug:
pan (used as jig)
rear torsion assembly (converted to irs)
shift rod
rear wiring harness
steering wheel
pedal cluster
Parts from 69 vw van:
tranny 3 rib, 1:5.38 ring & pinion gear. the best off road gearing from O.E.
the total estimated value for all the parts and materials in my buggy = $3000
the total man hours going into the construction is unknown. from design to first drive took two years of my life. i am more than happy with the "finished" product.
