John_love

The fourth prevelant love theme in John's letters is the idea that "God showed his love for us through Jesus.(God's love revelaed) " This was God's way of showing His ultimate love for us. By sending His son He proves His initial love for us that He would let His own Son die that we may be saved. Through this example of ultimate love He allows His son to die so that we may be saved and receive the Holy Spirit who fills us with love, through the ultimate example and thus lets us show love to others through the example we received in coming to the truth through the ultimate initial example of the love of God to us and through us.

"This is how we know what love is. Jesus Christ laid down his life for us and we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers."
1 John 3:16 NRSV

"And this is His command: to believe in the name of His son, Jesus Chirst, and to love one another as He commands, for those who follow his commands live in Him and He in them. And this is how we know that He lives in us: We know it by the Spirit He gave us.
1 John 2:23-24 NRSV

"Dear friends, let us love one another; for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and know God. Whoever does not love does not know God, becasue God is love. This is how God showed His love among us. He sent His one and only Son into the world that we might live through Him. This is love. Not that we loved God, but He loved us and sent His Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins."

"Everyone who believes that Jesus Chirst is born of God, and everyone who loves the Father loves the child as well. This is how we know that we love the children of God, by loving God and carrying out his commands. This is love for God: to obey His commands."
