Jonathan Nash
Jonathan, a great guy, a longtime chatpal and roleplay buddy,
a guy always concerned with
helping others send me these 3 poems.
I hope you'll enjoy reading them as much as
I did.
My personal favorite is The Porcupine
Now I lay me
Softly down
My heart is free
With no one around
'Cept you my Lord
This I pray
That you will please
Take me this day
Into the sky
Forever sleep
Never to hurt
Never to weep
What I want
Is very plain
To go with you
And feel no pain
Things have taught
Me about life
It all is pain
It all is strife
Without an end
But to you I am true
Suicide, my Lord
I shall not do
My world is gone
My life amiss
So please dear Lord
End all this
Amen
I, porcupine, sit alone,
enjoying my little ray of sun,
basking in its warmth.
A visitor, approaches slowly,
moves toward me, and reaches down
to pet me. My quills stick in her hand,
and she cries and runs away.
This should concern me, I think,
but I, shake my head,
and return to my little corner of sun.
The sun sets slowly
Bleeding its colors across the sky
Staining the clouds with beauty
The beauty of a day done
The sun lingers slowly over the horizon
Sending glittery beams of light on the waves
That shimmer and sparkle in the cool air
And light up the moving ocean
The wind blows softly
Caressing my face
Running its fingers through my hair
And I can feel its icy embrace all over me
Birds cry in the breeze
Stretching their wings in the wind
Floating back and forth lazily in the air
Their chatter drown out by the crash of the waves
The waves beat down upon the shore tirelessly
One after the other, in no rhythm,
Yet soothing as soft music after a long day
Echoing in my ears and calming my soul
One by one tiny lights begin to shine in the
darkness
And a large full moon lazily rises from the
water
The soft waves continue against the shore
Not stopping for the breath takings sights
On my rock I stand, viewing this in wonder
This amazing thing, and the simple thought
The knowledge, that day in, day out, this
takes place
Yet never the same way twice amazes me to
no end
And I sit down, and allow myself to float
free and become one
With the Night.
