Tips to do well in Fit and Show

- Never return a rabbit to the table until the judge says to.

- Keep all movements with the rabbit slow, if you move too fast the judge will mark you down.

- Always keep your eyes on the judge, even if they’re talking to another kid on the table. They will be checking to see if you are.

- Don’t talk to any of the other kids on the tables or people watching. If they talk to you, ignore them.

- Keep your hands behind you back. Don’t stand there petting your rabbit the whole time. If your rabbit will not hold still, just place one hand over it’s ears, keeping the other hand behind your back.

- Always make sure the judge is watching you as you’re handling the rabbit. If they’re watching another kid while you do yours, they won’t know how you did.

- Speak loudly and clearly when the judge asks you questions.

- If the judge asks for everyone on the table to do something and you didn’t hear them, don’t be afraid to ask them to repeat it.

- Even if you don’t know the answer to a question, take a guess. You never know if you might get it right.

- Never let go of your grip on the scruff when handling the rabbit.

- Sometimes the judges say, “Face your rabbits to the left (or right or towards you, ect)”. When moving your rabbit, make sure to actually pick up the rabbit to move it. Never just shove it into that position.

- If the judge moves your rabbit into a different position themselves, soon as they move onto the next kid immediately put your rabbit back how it was.

- Make sure to have your hair up in a pony tail or some way where it’s not dangling down if you’re a girl. If you have really long bangs that dangle in your eyes, clip them back. Make sure your hair is neat.

- Do not wear any jewelry. Eg: necklaces, bracelets, watches, hoop earrings or earrings that dangle (small studs are find, as long as they are plain and not that big and stand out), ect.

- Do not have nail polish on.

- You want to look neat and clean, don’t have anything that stands out big time.

- Wear a long sleeve white shirt. Make sure it is tucked in. Or you can use a long sleeve white judging coat (doctor’s coat).

- Bring your own carpet sample to set your rabbit on. The shows sometimes and sometimes don’t supply carpets for you to set your rabbits on. You do not want to use the carpets they supply as you have no idea what was on it before, it’s a very good way for your rabbit to pick up diseases.

- When you’re done fitting and showing, ask the judge what you can work on to do better the next time.

- Remember to always smile!! Look like you’re having fun up there. This could be the tie breaker between you and another kid.
