Hi, my name is Sarah Cleavenger, I'm 23 years old, and have been raising rabbits since March 1993. My rabbitry is registered with ARBA #U433 under the name “Double Dutch Rabbits”, because it turns out someone else registered Double Dutch Rabbitry in 1983, but we're still going to go by the name Double Dutch Rabbitry since it's been our name for over 10 years. I am a 50 hole rabbitry, spread out through three buildings, located in Seattle, Washington. Fifty is a number I refuse to go over with my rabbitry, because I believe in quality not quantity, so I am constantly culling to keep my numbers down. I usually average around 30 Dutch, and 5 Silver Martens (the other half of the SM are at Nicole's), not counting litters. Many breeds have come through my rabbitry, such as Netherland Dwarfs, Dutch, Harlequins, Tans, Mini Lops, Rhinelanders, and Silver Martens. Dutch have always been my main focus, I have had them since July 1994. I specialize in the Black and Blue varieties. Just recently Nicole Velotta and I decided to raise Black and Blue Silver Martens together. We're calling ourselves "Silver Streak Rabbitry". The main line I use in breeding my Dutch is Lloyd Gregg’s “Trelawn”. I’ve also crossed in rabbits from Don & Carol Johnston, Pete Nelsen, Jill Pfaff, and Rick Lehmann over the years. Most of my rabbits go back to my original stock which came from Donna Brak and Jan Coffelt’s lines when I first started in the breed. I work very hard on my rabbits to make them as close to the standard as I can. I line and inbreed my rabbits and am very strict with culling them (to remove from the rabbitry, not kill). I’m at all Western Washington shows, and most Eastern Washington shows. I also show at some Oregon shows. I’ve gone through 10 years of 4-H, serving as the President for two different clubs and have been a rabbit project leader for one year. I just recently became an ARBA Judge as of November 2007. I'm number 855. I'm looking forward to judging at shows this next year. I try to update my website as often as I can, so check back often for updates. Feel free to email me with any questions you have on rabbits, or if you just want to talk rabbits.
