Palace - A History
Way back in 1994, Communities.com launched a visual-based chat program called "The Palace". Initially costing an one-time start-up fee, it became freeware in 1997. Since then, Palace Servers have been set up all over the place. Preppy Palaces became a hot spot for teen airheads to gather and talk in three word sentances about... whatever teen airheads talk about. However, a few servers were dedicated to people with IQs larger than their shoe sizes. At first, the Anime Carnival was the most frequently visited of the Palaces. It was soon overtaken by the Pokemon Palace. Why, I have no idea, since PP was a party-house, with abusive wizards and rampant laggers/flamers. After a while, the growing list of banned users from PP pooled together and formed Balamb Garden. Think of PP as Britain and BG as Australia. The colonies of exiled users sought refuge in this new Palace, and as the wizards banned, the revolutionary force grew. Then, out of the blue, two hackers showed up. Pacman and Majin took over the Pokemon Palace Server and drove it into the ground within a few months. Since then, Balamb Garden has been unopposed as the #1 Anime and Video Game Palace, with little competition from places such as NeoTokyo, Anime Dojo, and Anime Carnival. That about wraps up the Palace History. Onto the site! |
