“Fujin? Raijin?”

Seifer called his friend’s names, hoping to get an answer.

Nothing.

“Fujin? Raijin? Where are you guys?”

Silence.

“Come on, this isn’t funny! Answer me! Where did you go?”

Something…from inside the next room.

“Thank you, Squall. I knew you would understand…”

“No problem…”

“You see, I just can’t STAND being around him………..I’d MUCH rather be with you…”

Seifer froze. (I know that voice…)

“So, Squall…is there anything you want in return?”

Silence.

“How about a kiss.”

“Alright. Just make yourself comfortable.”

Seifer glared inside the room.

“FUJIN!!!”

****

“Seifer?! Are you ok, man?!”

“ALRIGHT?!”

Seifer awoke in fury. His clothes were soaked with sweat. There was a wet cloth on his forehead that was only supposed to be damp, but Raijin was the one who had prepared it.

He looked around the room.

“WHERE’S SQUALL?!?!?!”

His two companions looked confused and worried.

“WHERE IS HE?!?!?!”

“We have no idea what you’re talkin’ about, ya know. Squall’s on the other side of the world for all we know.”

Seifer glared at Fujin. She only stared back at him. Confusion written all over her face.

“TELL ME!!!” Seifer yelled. In and instant, he lunged forward and grabbed her by the collar.

“I DEMAND YOU TO TELL ME!!! WHERE DID YOU HIDE HIM?!?! IS WE WAITING FOR YOU IN YOUR ROOM?!?! OUTSIDE?!?! WHERE?!?!”

Raijin shook his friend by the shoulders.

“Seifer! You were havin’ a bad dream! Let it go!”

Fujin glared at Seifer and straightened her collar. (Although it DID feel nice to be that close to him…just for a second. Even if he did not feel…the EXACT same way.)

Seifer closed his eyes and shook his head.

“I just can’t get any quality sleep in. I don’t think we’ll be outside in a while, you guys.”

His two friends nodded.

“It’s ok, ya know. We can pick up everything and bring it back here.”

“Thanks. I don’t think I’ll try another nap. I’ll wait ‘till tonight.”

“Ok, then. See ya, ya know.”

Fujin let Raijin leave as she eyed Seifer. He stared into her eyes, noting a look of worry forming on her face. She was becoming a young woman, and as she grew, she was attaining a mother’s traits which was not hard to understand, since she lived and worked with two teenage boys that constantly got into trouble. But this time it wasn’t the kind of look that said, ‘Seifer, you better watch out for yourself.’ It was the sickening realization that something was going wrong in his life and there was nothing she could do to help.

‘But I can always try.’

And sooner or later, she would be able to fix things.

****

It was night now. Seifer almost wanted to smile as he viewed the sparkling stars that hung above. Beside him stood Fujin; also entranced by the sight that dangled from heaven and could very well be heaven itself. Her silver hair blew in wisps as the wind playfully tugged at her light clothes.

“Seifer…”

“Yes?”

Fujin bit her lip and did not turn to face Seifer. She didn’t like making him see her face in this type of a situation. Knowing him, he might get the wrong idea.

“About earlier today…if it makes you feel better…I’ll never leave your side.”

That’s when Seifer turned to face her. Her one eye staring sincerely at the black sky.

“Oh…um…sorry about that. I let my nightmares get the best of me.”

Silence.

“But it won’t happen again.”

Silence.

“At lease I know now that you’ll never be able to share this sight with…Squall.”

Fujin didn’t seem to be listening.

“If I promise not to leave you, do you promise not to leave me…?”

Seifer smiled at her.

“Not unless I have to.”

With that, he patted her shoulder and walked away.

****

Seifer yawned. He hadn’t slept in two days. He needed rest badly. As he turned to the bed in front of him, it seemed to be calling his name. Throwing his coat and gloves over the nearest chair, he collapsed into bed and fell asleep.

****

Seifer awoke in a king size bed. He yawned and stretched; sitting up in bed. The room around him was dull and very gloomy. Very little sun peeked through the windows, but just enough to cast ghostly shadows on the walls. (sound like nibelheim mansion yet? j/k!)

“Where am I?”

He got up out of bed and looked at himself in a large mirror that hung from a wall. His hair was disheveled and his coat was wrinkled. But that was strange, he didn’t remember going to sleep with it on. And he didn’t remember going to sleep in this bed. Seifer flattened out his blonde hair and started out the door. What he saw beside the door made him freeze.

Hyperion was setting up next to the frame.

He grabbed it and walked out the door.

****

Outside, there were people everywhere. On the streets, on the sidewalks, everywhere. Most of the stores had banners hanging that said, “A NEW ERA IS IN THE MAKING.” What did the banners mean? He would soon find out.

‘Where are Fujin and Raijin?’

Then he spotted one of them. Raijin was standing guard at the gate to an extraordinary mansion. He was wearing a uniform and cap that looked like something from military school. But Raijin had never been to military school. Other than Garden of course. And Garden supplied uniforms only to SeeDs. And if there was one thing Seifer was sure of, it was that Raijin was never a SeeD.

“Hey mister! Whoops, I mean excuse me, sir.”

Sir? Since when had Raijin called him sir?”

“Yer’ like…the spitting image of Seifer Almasy, ya know!”

‘Huh?’

“I mean, after he died, nobody really wanted to see his face ever again, ya know. You’ll cause quite a stir. Especially with our new leader.”

Seifer raised an eyebrow.

“Yeah right. Shut up, Raijin.”

“Huh? You tawkin’ about Raijin? Almasy’s friend? He died, ya know. So did that one girl. What was her name again? FUJIN! It was Fujin, ya know!”

“Come on, Raijin. This is getting old now.”

Raijin looked quite confused as he stared at Seifer.

“I told you already, man! Raijin is dead, ya know!”

Seifer grabbed Raijin by the collar.

“I said SHUT UP!”

“I’m not lyin’, ya know!” Raijin said franticly as he felt himself being lifted into the air. “Ch-Check the history books!”

With that, Seifer dropped Raijin and started down the road.

“Gee wizz, ya know.”

Seifer thought as he walked.

‘ Who could this new leader be? And why was Raijin acting so strange? Or is it Raijin? And what’s in that mansion back there? Is that where the “leader” is being kept? I must go back.’

By now, the streets were buzzing even more than before. Something was going to happen soon.

That mansion was open now. Unguarded. Maybe Seifer still had a chance to find out about this new leader. He had to try.

****

A figure stood, covered in black. They carried a sword and wore almost all leather that was so black, it reflected the moon easily. The person blew a wisp or hair out of their face.

‘He’ll be here soon.’

****

(Note: Who thinks the person is Squall? Who thinks it’s Sephiroth? Who thinks it’s…Kefka? Haha. Just kidding. I just had to say that! ^_^)

The mansion was deserted. There was no one on any of the six floors that Seifer had covered so far. But there were more rooms ahead. Maybe if he kept going.

“Hello?”

There was something upstairs. Seifer could hear it. He bounded up the stairs and dashed through the corridors.

‘Whenever sang my songs,

On the stage, on my own.’

It was a tape recording of some kind. Someone was playing it.

Suddenly, the music stopped and a different song started to play.

(Note: The song I’m about to play is called Washu’s Lullaby and you will hear it eventually if you watch Tenchi Muyo!)

‘April roses,

Tiny sparrows,

Cornets bright and new.’

“What?”

‘All belong together,

With the mystery that is you.’

“Who’s playing it?”

‘When I see your little face,

I hear a song from long ago.

I  think you know,

The many secrets I've forgotten.’

“I’ve never heard this before.”

‘Generations through the ages,

Joined as one somehow.’

“What is this?”

Leading to the miracle,

That I am holding now.

‘From the sky and from the sea,

Upon a breeze you came to me,

You seem to see,

A greater universe than I do.’

‘Sleep my baby, sleep my baby.

Dream of somewhere far away.

Do you remember still?

How I hope you always will,

Keep the memory of the day,

The world was born.’

‘When you wake up I'll be waiting,

Eager for your smile.

You've had quite a journey, Darling.

You should rest a while.

When you cry we still rejoice,

To hear your voice - oh yes, it's true,

My sweet Washu.

Please understand how much we love you.’

‘Sleep my baby, sleep my baby.

Later on perhaps you'll tell,

The wondrous things you've seen.

More miraculous than dreams.

Tell me all about the day,

The world was born’.

‘Sleep my baby, sleep my baby.

Dream of somewhere far away.

Do you remember still?

How I hope you always will,

Keep the memory of the day,

The world was born.’

By now, Seifer had reached the top of the stairs. There was one room left in the whole mansion, and that was the one that was right in front of him.

“Hello, Seifer. I knew you would come.”

Seifer gazed upon a figure in the dark, that wore black leather and carried a gunblade.

“Squall?”

That’s when the figure turned to face Seifer. Her silver hair swayed as she swung around.

“FUJIN?!”

A smug impression crossed her face. She drew Lionheart and pricked his neck. The smooth metal of the blade touched his neck and felt cold against his cheek.

“I knew you were coming. You always do.”

Seifer was lost for a moment.

‘What IS this?’

“So, Seifer? Are you still as good as you use to be?”

“Yeah, and I bet I could still whoop you pretty good.”

Seifer decided to play along. Fujin was Squall, and Seifer was…Seifer.

“A duel then. We shall see who is most improved.”

Seifer drew Hyperion. Fujin drew Lionheart.

“I always knew it would boil down to this, Squall.”

As Seifer looked to Fujin, after picking up Hyperion, he saw that her body had started to glow of bright aura. Her thin wisps of hair blew back and a ferocious wind enveloped her body as she began to surge with energy and power. She held Lionheart high and yelled, “THIS IS FOR LEAVING ME!”

****

“NOOOOOOO!”

Seifer awoke, and not for the first time, he was covered in sweat. He looked over himself. Just the way he went to sleep. His coat and gloves were hanging off the nearest chair. Hyperion was in it’s case.

‘Now I know why people say it’s better not to live in dreams.’ He thought.

Seifer got up and washed his face. He looked much better now. And it was time to make some breakfast.

****

It was night again and Fujin stood alone under the stars. She was happy, earlier hearing Seifer claim that he thought his nightmares would be over. She hoped he was right. She couldn’t stand seeing him in his former condition. And deep inside of herself, she wished that she could be with him always. That he could love her and she would return his love. And they could be happy that way.

Suddenly, she felt two arms slide around her waist.

She immediately knew who it was.

“Seifer?”

“Fujin.” Seifer whispered. He wanted to help her. He wanted to make her feel loved. For if he did not, that horrible dream might come true.

“Fujin, I’ve been thinking about your question.”

He spun her around and placed her hands on his chest.

“I will never ever leave you; do you understand?”

Fujin nodded as two tears slid down her face. Seifer reached out and wiped them away with the back of his hand. He looked at her sincerely, tracing her lips with his index finger.

“Don’t cry.” He whispered. “Where’s the Fujin I used to know.”

“I’m Fujin. But I’ve been hiding for so long.” She whispered.

Seifer took her in his arms and nuzzled her cheek. He felt her bury her face in his shoulder.

“I won’t ever leave you. Do you understand?”

He kissed her neck and rested his head on her shoulder.

“Just don’t die.”

Seifer wiped her eyes.

‘As long as you don’t die, I’ll be with you. And when you die, wait for me.’

Raynel yawned. That’s enough books for tonight. She was getting tired and if she was caught up this late, she would be in serious trouble. But she simply couldn’t push away the coming excitement.

Tomorrow she started writing her first Jacob’s Love Life Biography! ~_^
