Chapter 2: SeeD Exam
After a good night's sleep I was ready to take my exam. Like my father I also have a gunblade. His however is a Lionhart gunblade and mine is a Revolver. At 3:00 P.M. I boarded the ship that was headed for Dollet. On the ship we were run through a mission briefing. Everybody who was taking the exam was put by themselves instead of in groups. I had one of the most important jobs. Once the path up the mountain was cleared by fellow SeeD cadets I was supposed to run up the mountains and look over the edge toward the bottom on the other side so I could see what the Galbadian soldiers were up to.Once we got to Dollet we saw that the mountains were covered by Galbadian soldiers. Luckily the Dollet soldiers helped us out in the mission by covering as backup. It took us about two hours just to clear a path up the mountain even with Dollet's help. I was so scared as I ran up the mountain as fast as I could. Before I could reach the top of the mountain a Grendal appeared and tried to attack but, my father sliced his gunblade right through it. I guessed that he must have been watching my back incase I was in any danger. After I encountered the Grendal I ran even faster up the mountain this time. I was soon at the top of the mountain. I slowly moved toward the edge. I saw Galbadians building a missile base. I looked toward the edge and I asked myself "Why would the Galbadians build a missile base unless they were going to fire missiles at something?" I had no time to think over these thoughts because an alarm sounded and a lift from the missile base was rising straight up in my direction. I was going to head back down the mountain but in the distance I saw Galbadian soldiers heading up the mountain towards me. I quickly came up with a plan. As soon as the lift came to the top of the mountain I was going to run across it right past the soldiers and to the other side. Soon enough the lift made it to the top in no time. I quickly ran across the lift and as I did I felt a few swords jab into my side, but not hard enough for me to give up. As I ran forward more and more soldiers chased me. I was almost at the bottom of the mountain when I tripped and fell the rest of the down. I ran as fast as I could , but the Galbadians were too close. I then felt a strong jab in my back and I fell down. It didn't take too long before the Galbadians were all on top of me and driving their swords straight through my body. I felt like I was about to die but, then all of the Galbadians were being ripped off my body. I soon realized that the Dollet soldiers and my father's friends were ripping the Galbadians off of me and killing them. I was soon being carried back to the ship. I couldn't see my dad anywhere. I barely lifted my head and then I saw him. He was running towards me swinging his gunblade at any Galbadian soldiers. I saw a fallen Galbadian soldier gripping his sword tightly in hand waiting for my father to come to him. I tried to warn him but, my voice was gone. And I couldn't make a sound.In the next instant the Galbadian raised his sword, and struck my father in the heart. As my father fell down I saw him mouth to me saying "I love you." I heard my mother yelling and then her pinwheel weapon sliced right through the Galbadian soldier. Then I saw my mother run towards my father's body. And then I closed my eyes and I thought I was about to die. |
