Episode 23: Were Garurumon's Diner
After searching for Tai, Matt and Gabumon land on a strange shore. On a nearby cliff, they see a grup of digimon and they decide to follow them. They are led to a resturnt in the middle of no-where. As they approach the resturant, they find Gomamon. Gomamon leads Matt and Gabumon to Joe who tells them his story:
After he and Gomamon left the group to find Tai, he was confronted by a strange digimon named DemiDevimon who told him that he had seen other humans like Joe. DemiDemimon led them to the same diner that they were at, and they stoped to have a quick bite. Obiously when Joe tried to pay the bill, he had the wrong currency, and was forced to work in the diner. But after he had made coutless mistakes in the kitchen, he turned a three day job into a two week work-load.
As Joe finishes his story, Vegemon, the main waiter/cook interupts Joe to tate the stew Joe had just finished which, in Vegemon's opion was horrible. Vegemon shouting makes the costomers of the diner uneasy causing DigiTamamon, the resturant manager, to quite things down with Joe and Vegemon. Matt argues with DigiTamamon that Joe had worked off more than his load, and that he should leave. DigiTamamon suggests that Matt should work for Joe, and Matt tells Joe that he will after he finds TK. Later that day, when DigiTamamon is in his office, DemiDevimon bribes him to keep Matt in the resturant with Joe. Just as Matt is about to leave, DigiTamamon strongly stresses that Matt should work with Joe or an "accident" may happen. Matt is obliged to to work with Joe, who is very annoying in the kitchen. As the days progess, Joe's annoyance and mistakes causes Matt to almost blow his top. One night DemiDevimon tries to double Joe's and Matt's workload by removing a brick for a potato loading table. A misterious hand (Sora and Biyomon) fix the table and nothing happens. Later that night Matt plays a sad tune on his harmonica. DemiDevimon shows up and tells Matt that Joe is just making mistakes on purpose just to keep him there. Matt trust Joe, but he begins to have his doubts. The next day Matt gets in an argument with DigiTamamon that he should leave to find TK, when DemiDevimon sneakily trips Joe, causing him to spill a tower of dishes adding another week to Matt's and Joe's work-load. Matt blows his top and leaves the resturant and Joe. Moments later, Tai and TK show up in the resturant and find Joe. Joe informs Tai of his situation while TK finds Matt behind the resturant. Tai and TK are ready to leave the resturant but Matt won't leave with the annoying and selfish Joe. DigiTamamon and DemiDevimon show up just as Tai and TK are about to leave and they try to stop them. Tai tells Matt and Joe that DemiDevimon is a trikster, at that they both triked them into working at the resturant. Matt is angered by this, and begins to accuese DigiTamamon. DigiTamamon begins to grow stronger and he tries to attack the group. Gabumon and Gomamon digivolve to protect Tai, TK, Matt, and Joe. After Gabumon's and Gomamon's digivolutions, Vegemon quickly grabs TK and dangels him from the resturant roof. Joe is able to climb on the roof and rescue TK, but becomes Vegemon's next target. As Vegemon squeezes Joe, Matt realizes what a true friend Joe is and his crest of Friendship begins to glow causing Garurumon to digivolve into Were Garurumon! Were Garurumon easily defeats DigiTamamon, causing Vegemon and DemiDevimon to flee. Were Garurumon dedigivolves to Tsunomon, and Matt apologies to Joe, who thanks Matt. Tai, TK, Matt, Joe and their digimon leave the resturat and split up (Matt with TK and Tai with Joe) to find Izzy, Mimi, and Sora...
