Part One: Borne Into Darkness
Batmon stood on a rooftop overlooking the city. She looked down. Tiny ant-people walked on the sidewalk twenty stories below. Batmon sighed. She was supposed to be looking for the eight DigiDestined child, but had no success yet. She spread her leathery black wings and flew off to her next destination.
Batmon landed on the rooftop of another building across the city. She looked down at the ground and took out a copy of the eighth child's crest. She then jumped off and landed agilely fifty feet below. She stood against a wall and turned the crest towards any child who walked by. Nothing happened. She waited until there was no one on the sidewalk to leave. She turned down the street and walked towards the park, where she knew human children would be
Batmon was in the park, doing magic tricks for the group of children. She'd hung the fake crest around her neck so that her hands would be free for her tricks. She set that down on the bench she was standing on and quickly looked at the crest as she did so. She sighed and straightened up. No reaction yet. Finding the eighth DigiDestined child was going to be harder than she thought.
It was nearly midnight when Batmon trudged wearily back to Myotismon's hideout. The halls were empty, except for her. She went straight to her quarters. As soon as she lay down on her bed and closed her eyes there was a knock on her door. Growling in frustration, she got up to answer it. "The boss wants to see you," DemiDevimon said before Batmon could ask him what he wanted. Batmon sighed and hung her head. Then, she looked back up at DemiDevimon. "Okay, I'll be there in a minute. Just give me a few seconds to wake up a little more," Batamon told him. "Make it quick or, well, you know how upset the master can get..." DemiDevimon snapped. "Batmon yawned and then went with DemiDevimon through the maze of halls. Finally, DemiDevimon left and Batmon went down the final section of hallway alone.
