Dekaelis is surprisingly softspoken for being a lumbering hulk of close to 18 turns. He has closely-cropped dark brown hair and light hazel eyes. At 6'1" and nearly 300 lbs, Dekaelis looks like a massive brute, even when hunched over. He has a few close friends, numerous acquaintances, and is known best by all for his infinite patience. Dekaelis' first passion has always been for smithing, his second love is for his mother, and his third penchant is for daydreaming. He usually gets along with authority figures, since he has always been a follower, not a leader.
   Born and raised at South Wind Sea Hold, he was often mocked as a youth for his hulking and lumpy appearance. After awhile, Dekaelis gave up defending his mother, the journeywoman harper Sgaileach, and simply began ignoring their taunts. He allowed his mind to relive memories of watching journeyman smith Barris work at his craft as the other children stood around him in a ring and poked sticks at him. Dekaelis's continued docility during these incidents led others to believe that he was slow of mind, although that's always been far from the truth. Journeyman Barris took pity on Dekaelis and agreed to teach him what he knew about weaponsmaking.
   When Dekaelis reached his 15th turn, Sgaileach sat him down and told him that she felt the open road calling to her again as a harper, and that they had both outgrown this place. Journeyman Barris had taught Dekaelis all he thought he could handle, and it was time for them to leave. They talked long into that night, and the next day, the sun rose over the two of them parting their paths; Sgaileach travelling south to Ternhart Hold, and Dekaelis west to Kilborn. Dekaelis spent a turn there, studying settings, symmetry, display, and gold-working under Journeywoman smith Merianda until she, too, advised him to move on, this time to Minercraft Hall to the northeast, where the Smithcraft Hall could also be found. Dekaelis thanked her for her teachings, packed up his few possessions once more, and was amazed to find himself under the supervision of MasterSmith Hyard. However, due to Dekaelis's large size and occasional clumsiness, and the number of other apprentices and journeymen in the Hall, Hyard's patience is quickly growing short with Dekaelis in particular. Master Hyard admits that Dekaelis shows great potential, but still intends to send Dekaelis away soon, and for as long as possible in order to advance his other students before dealing with Dekaelis himself. Perhaps an errand of fair import that will eventually lead Dekaelis to Morlevan Weyr...
