-- Today I went to Gleneagles hospital for the appointment with the orthopaedic surgeon together with my dad. When it was my turn, we went into his room and I showed him my x-rays together with the x-ray report. After he went through all the stuffs, he clipped up one of the x-rays on this white-light board and started explaining to me and my dad that what I am suffering from is Spondylosis. It is something that will required an operation to connect back my "broken" part of spine with the others. He further pointed out and outlined the shape of my bone saying that one part of my spine, the 5th "side locks" of my lumbar spine are actually broken, thus unable to secure my backbone together. Furthermore, he said that this piece of broken bone is facing downwards, therefore it is sliding down with any force or strength that I exert on myself/spine. The only thing that is pulling my broken part back inline is actually my central nerve vein. But if this nerve vein is unable to support anymore and the part continues to slide further down, it will pull the nerve vein with it and in serious case, it could result in paralysis!
The specialist also said that this operation is inevitable as I am still yound and I will still run around, exercise and give birth later on in my life. So he said it is best to go for this operation whereby he will insert a metal plate into my spinal to secure and pull the broken part back inline with the others permanently. I got a shocked when I heard that but after a while, I asked him if it is possible to delay the operation as it is gonna cost a bomb!(approx. 10-13K SGD) He told me the maximum time that I can drag for my case is only half a year to one year but during this period of time, I must go and take new x-rays to show him. And if the new x-rays shows further sliding of the bone, he will immediately send me for operation! So serious... then I asked between this spondylosis case and slip-disc, which is more serious? He gave a smile and started explaining what is Slip-Disc to me and my dad before he said "Your case is far more serious that Slip-Disc!" *I nearly fainted when I heard this news!
