table for one, thanks
by Dhamidhu Eratne
Alone
but lonely too
It's hard sometimes
to dine by candlelight
and to be the only one at your table
But as hard as it may be
to be
the only lonely -
"Only You"
whoever You are
can quench this loneliness
For loneliness is not filled out of existence
merely by anything that may seem
'vaguely appropriate'
like you
for in that case, such logic would suggest
that even plasticine would do!
No.
Instead I must
maintain
myself
dignity
and
peace
within
and if I can believe in it,
and accept what is
when I ask
for the "table for one, thanks"
then all the better!
Just cruising,
Flying solo, am I.
