The Return of Optimism
by Dhamidhu Eratne
A Bird of Paradise
with a rainbow for plumage
flew in
and sat on my shoulder
enveloping me with its radiance
It cooed
and whispered in my ear
that
true happiness
is but consistent
contentment-
persistent bliss,
that permeates
through every bit of you.I smiled, and stroked
its feathers
Your feathers, my loveand suddenly once again
all the world's problems
could be solved
