American Red Cross

Web Assignment:Organization of Faith

The American Red Cross is an organization set up in 1881 that is there to help disaster victims, help community's with issues, help various military family's with relief, and the collection of life saving blood that they use without charge. The Red Cross does not charge for it's aid, and relies on donations and various other means to keep the charity going. The current headquarter's of the Red Cross is in Washington D.C., but there is an international red cross.

.
The American Red Cross was founded by Clara Barton in 1881. She was the first president of the American Red Cross. The first major disaster they helped with was the Great Fire of 1881 in Michigan. They continued to aid with various disasters. Now they are responsible for roughly 44% of the blood donated in North America. Without these supplies, we could not perform various surgeries that are neccesary to keep people alive. The Red Cross now has more then one million volunteer's, and more then 30,000 full time employees. The Red Cross is an essential part of the United State's hospital system. Other accomplishments of the red cross include supplying alot of the blood after 9/11, helping feed disaster workers, and helping with the recovery of the south after Hurrican Katrina.

I think that the American Red Cross is an organization of faith because they show trust and belief in patient's to help them for free, and devote countless man hour's to making the world a better place. They show trust in their employees and they have faith in the donation's of other's that keep the company running. It is obvious every volunteer of the Red Cross has faith, because they are volunteering their valuable time and money to do what they believe is right for the world. Overall the American Red Cross is a perfect example of an organization of faith
