Nelson Mandela: A Man of Faith

Nelson Mandela was born in Transkei, South Africa on July 18, 1918. He went to college at University College of Fort Hare and the University of Witwatersrand. He later joined the African National Congress, and became a leading member of that foundation. He used this foundation as a way to preach his views of racial equality, and even though it was detrimental to his health to do this, he used all of his energy towards pursuing this goal. He soon united with fellow radicals withing the organization, and tried to cause the organization to not just use political means for equality. He was an attorney, and even with the power this granted him,he was not exempt from the apartheid laws. They ordered him to abandon his practice, and he decided to directly disobey this law because of the setbacks it would cause. He continued to protest racism and other injustices until he was imprisoned in 1964, and continued to attempt to protest racism in the prisons. He was finally released in 1990 and went right back into fighting apartheid. He received the Nobel Peace Prize in 1993, and was regarded as a leading voice in preaching equality.

Nelson Mandela is a man of faith because he has great faith in the message he preaches, and has great faith that the races will eventually be euqal in South America. He preaches this message despite the fact that people will threaten his health and life because of it. Another reason I think that he has great faith is because he will not compromise on this issue. I think that this shows he has great conviction in this issue, and realizes that by compromising, he is just hurting the future for equality. Nelson Mandela is a great man of faith, and he has faith in a just cause.
