Journal: Week 5

1. The major idea of the section was the idea's of how we can reason their is a God, and the field of faith and apologetics. During the section, we went over some arguments for why there is a God, and also went over the evidence we have both ways. We also went over ideas about the human Jesus, and used these ideas to attempt to reaffirm our views on God. Some of the key arguments of the section are the argument by Natural Law, argument of Conscience, and argument of Religious experience. All of these idea's pointed to there being a God, and are hurtles for every positive Atheist to cross if they want to continue to be an Atheist. The main idea's of the section all had to do with arguments for why there is a God, and why we should believe in him.

2. List and explain three of the most important ideas you want to remember from this week.
1.The first idea I want to remember from the section is the idea of the Unmoved Mover. This had to do with that no matter how far back you go, there has to be an initial cause to something, something that starts the chain of events. This is one of the big reasons why I believe in God, because I think that God is one of the only ways that something can just come into being. I think that this is another hurdle that Atheism has to cross for the creation of the Universe, because without a higher power of some sort, how did things start, and what caused the first domino to fall in the chain of events which is the Universe.
2.The second idea that I want to remember is the idea of the human Jesus. I think that this view of Jesus really let me see that Jesus is not only a great religous teacher, but really let me focus on Jesus as a great moral preacher. I think that this view of Jesus can really help many Catholics grow closer to their faith, and in my opinion, understanding Jesus in this aspect is one of the only ways we can completely get in touch with our faith.

3. The third idea I want to remember is the idea of the Argument from degrees of perfection. I find that this argument really holds true, because their must be an ideal if we are to use comparitive language. I think that if all of what Atheism said was true, their was no ideal, and therefore there must be a higher being. I find that this argument is one of the best for me, because it provides me with good solid evidence that there actually is a God.

3. One image that reminds you of key ideas.

An image of Jesus

4.I think that Jesus is not only one of the greatest moral teacher's of all time, but also the Son of God. I think that people, whether Catholic or not, can take a lot from Jesus's moral teachings. I think that the code Jesus preaches, if practiced, would make the world a far better place. Jesus as a moral teacher is a fascinating enough figure, but when you add in that he is the Son of God, he becomes, in my opinion, one of the greatest figures in human history. I think that we can learn a lot from Jesus in all aspects of life, but most of all in his moral teachings. .
