MAS Veterans played one of their best match this year when they triumphed against their bitter rivals Air Asia 5-2 at Kelana Jaya today. Goals from Capt Pacai (2), Capt Nik, Zunaidi and Mahathir gave MAS Veterans the absolute bragging rights, and MAS could claim their superiority against Air Asia, on and off the field. A war of words prelude this much anticipated match when players from each side threw tantrums at each other. A controversial statement from Tony Fernandez early in the week about the "uneven playing field" gave MAS Veterans players just the right tonic for this match. Both teams fought tooth and nail from the first whistle, and in the process a free-for-all nearly broke several times. This is another evident that there was no love lost between the two feuding carriers, and MAS Veterans didnt fail to give their arch nemesis some good football lessons.
In the end Air Asia players left the "level playing field" along with their battered and bruised ego, while MAS Veterans players celebrated their victory deep into the night at several night spots in the city....
