Training and Implementation of the 2002
Restructured Basic Education Curriculum

The 2002 RBEC (Restructured Basic Education Curriculum) had been the central focus of the division activities since Schools Division Superintendent (SDS) Dr. Luisa Bautista-Yu, CESO V, arrived from the Planning Meeting on the Training on the implementation of the BEC at DepEd Complex, Pasig City on Feb 06, 2002.

To make the training very systematic, a training tram was organized.  This was headed by the SDS, and the members were Mrs. Josefina N. Ramos, ASDS, Mr. Jose Gaviola, ES- I, NFE, Mr. Carmelino P. Bernadas, ES- I, Science and Mrs. Marilyn C. Gervacio, Caibiran CS Principal.

The team trained 18 Division Core of Trainers (COT) Composed of Education Supervisors and selected School Principals and Master Teachers.

The Division COT had a writeshop in developing session guides to be used in the training of school administrators who will in turn train the teachers.

On April 05, 2002 a one-day orientation and walk through of the session guides and clarification of the tasks of the training teams was conducted.

The training of the school administrators was conducted in 3 batches. Batches 1 and 2 were composed of the district supervisors, principals, head teachers and TICs. Batch 3 was composed of all the secondary school heads and department heads.  The trainings were scheduled as follows:

Batch 1                      April 9 – 11, 2002  36 participants

Batch 2                      April 10 – 12, 2002      37 participants

Batch 3                      April 11 – 13, 2002      31 participants

           ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

           Total                                                                           104 participants

The mass training for teachers started on April 16, 2002 and ended on May 11, 2002.

The teachers of the Elementary and Secondary Private Schools joined in the training.  The principals of Cathedral School of La Naval and Naval Institute of Technology joined in the School Administrators Training.  They were given topics to discuss the training.

Teacher applicants were also invited to attend.  They participated actively during the training. Some volunteered to conduct demonstrate teaching.

The training handouts were prepared before the training.  Meals were served in all the venues of the training. However, the teacher applicants and private school teachers brought packed lunch and snacks.

Below is the Summary of the trained teachers and administrators.  This excludes those coming from the private schools as well as the teacher applicants.  (These will be reflected in the matrix attached to this report.):
