I believe that each one of us holds within us the strength and the power to live our lives as we were intended.

The process of life is about uncovering our treasures, empowering ourselves to use them and honoring the outcomes.

My role as a counselor is to provide professional and therapeutic support to you, the life traveler, as you explore your own path, unveil your personal treasures and learn to live with your own power.

Qualifications

Edythe (Dee) Dunn, MA, LPC, has been working in the mental health field since 1979. She has a Masters of Arts degree in Psychology from the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, VA, and is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Virginia. In addition, Dee has advanced training in specialty areas of:

music evoked imagery,
cognitive-behavioral techniques
Critical incident Stress Management


Dee is fully qualified to provide treatment in issues of:

survivors of sexual and physical abuse
Post Traumatic Stress
grief and loss
depression
anxiety
anger management
stress management
smoking cessation/habit breaking

In addition, Dee has extensive experience counseling  developmentally disabled adolescents.

Dee’s broad professional experience includes inpatient and outpatient facilities, residential and community settings. She works with both adolescents and adults.

Internationally known for her work in music evoked imagery, Dee enjoys teaching and presenting new ideas and has presented at the following conferences:

2001 – Mid-Atlantic Region of American Music Therapist Association, (Williamsburg, VA)

2000 – Association of Music and Imagery, (Little Switzerland, NC) and American Music therapist Association, (St. Louis, MO)
