I was educated at a private school for boys in the British countryside. My brother and I enjoyed endless summers travelling Europe with my father as he toured with the London ballet. Holidays were spent with my mother where she preached the importance of a liberal education. Shortly after my fifteenth birthday, my brother, who was 2 years older, formed a rock and roll band and ran away to Berlin to become a star. He managed to get a record deal, but the only commercial success he achieved was through dance remixes in the German club scene. To this day he lives in Berlin, a local celebrity as a radio host for techno music. |
I was born in Russia on a small potato farm just south of Pskov. My father was an international ballet dancer and my mother taught sculpture at the university in Saratov. We lived a simple life on the potato farm, and for many years my brother and I knew nothing of our parents wonderful lives away from home on the farm. It wasn't until the birth of our sister that we learned the truth and shortly thereafter, the family moved to London. |

I packed my bags and moved to New York, where by day I enjoyed painting and sculpture and by night I worked at a downtown sauna collecting and washing towels. It was a modest life of an artist my mother had not warned me about. After two years in New York, I left school and quit my job to experience North America. I took a position as a semi-truck driver for the summer and hauled freight back and forth over the Canadian border. At the end of the summer I ended up in Montreal where I enrolled as photography student at the French university. Halfway through the term, and after an embarassing affair with a faculty member, I decided to transfer to the english university, Concordia. I am currently working hard towards a degree in photography, god bless my poor mother's heart. One day she will be proud of me. I hope you enjoyed that. Historical accuracy has never been my strong point, although I do seem to have an active imagination. |
Upon my completion of private school, my mother encouraged me to follow her footsteps and go to art college. She was disapointed with my siblinds thus far and saw the family potential was now in my hands... as my sister had also ran away, pregnant with her driving instructor's child. |
