So hey.
Geeky a pasttime as it may be, I like to roleplay.
I started doing it back in the days when we all lived in Olympia Washington, and
nobody lived anywhere else; it certainly beat the 50$ a day drug habit I had so
recently kicked when I first met somebody into gaming at rehab. It's ironic; I
went to school back in the days when D&D was first popular, but even tho I read
fantasy books I had no interest in it; I was one of those 'cool' stoner kids and
figured both RP and computers were for nerds.
heh. look at me now.
I wound up at that time hosting a LARP up at The Evergreen; when rain and winter
took toll, I'd do tabletop. At this point in time I prefer online chats, and am
also part of a few livejournal communities.
I'm one of
the hosts of what's right now a hybrid room on silvercrossings.net; the room is called
The Interzone.(to get to the hybrid rooms you join the site, and type the name in
the 'private room' box at the portal page; it'll get you to where we are.
I'm also a mod at my friend Jess's room Fire & Water at whisperingrealmschat.net
But enough of all that. Let me introduce you to my annoying cast of Cs.
I mostly play canon Cs, or Cs based on real people; I enjoy doing this because it
saves one the hassle (usually) of creating backstory. Some folk think it's a bit
of a cop out to play other people's creations, but actually it's not always easy
to make them seem in character enough to be convincing to other people who are
interacting with them, and yet making them enough your own that you don't feel
stifled.
Since I've played some of these for so many years tho, they do get a bit warped
out of their own realities...you change things a little here and a little there,
and your partners see how subtle and slow the change is, but someone walking in
in midstory is pretty WTF? about it all.
That said, at least give me a chance to explain myself as I introduce you to my
cast...

"KIRKE
O'BAIN",faerydust sniffin, kitty pettin' grunger caitiff was my first 'regular
C. Invented as joke in a tabletop game of Wraith:the Oblivion, I just figured it
might be entertaining to play a ghost people had heard of; having a few
superficial things in common (I'm originally from WA state, a blond,& a musician;
the buck stops there, thankyewverymuch) it just seemed a crackup at the time.
he's had quite the little half life then, for a dead man, including, somewhere
along the way in the Inn of the Weary Traveller (oldschool WBS version), managing
to get himself Sired as a vampyre. how the hell do you Embrace a ghost? heyy,
don't ask me; it's one of those holes in the plotline you could drive a mack
truck thru.Early RP partners at this time included a girl named Rose who played
Gwynna Nightstalker, the vampyre who turned him, and Diana's C, Sabria Fa'sayle,
who secondSired him, winding him up with, of all things, some obscure lost tribe
of Tremeres' blood.People either love or hate this C;everytime I've let him get
killed off(again), someone ends up reviving him somehow. At the time of this
writing, the C is greatly enamored of D'Namouh Necare; you can read about their
exploits in the LJ logs kept by her player, the loverly ms. Nadine, here. note:
start from 2003 and read em backwards to have them in sequence. Oh, & we rarely
if ever have it specified who's saying what, so it can get a little confusing...
ok. with me so far? as if that isn't enough to send most RPers running
for cover, he has Kindred..
DAVID
GROHL,vampyre Foo dude holy mint Mentos, Batman, how did this occur?
Well, in the alternate/crossover universe my Cs live, Kirke got lonely. I was
RPing a great deal at this time with a girl called Katzeal; all the Cs mentioned
besides mine in this timeline were played by her. When Kirke first refound Dave he
hadn't the heart to kill him himself;Dave was turned instead by Kasilyn, the
niece of Kirke's then-mentor, Cronus Vladislas. But Dave has never liked being a
vampyre; it took him away from his most successful career (one of the recurring
jokes is periodically the Cs find on TV a VH1 special about the disappearance of
the Foo Fighters who later became Cs of mine. of course, as the RP progresses on
and on the 'when' factor of their disappearance keeps subtly changing; I just
can't bear to undo any of their music, even in an AU).Not so much a villain as
greatly hurt by his former bandmates' 'betrayal'; Dave shies away from the others
and even, at times, plots their downfall.
TAY HAWKINS,vampyre Foo dude too! quote of note:"I have big claws, and
I run awfully fast!" This C has more fun than anyone. Somehow completely
unaffected by the usual gawfic gloom that surrounds most 'vampyre' RPs, this C
never got over the giddy, tripped out 'whoa, everything is so vivid' phase
that makes fledgling vampyres act like lost kids on Ecstasy. he was, of course, a
Foo Fighter until he was Embraced into Kirke's clan.He has since had an
insatiable appetite for fun, sex and blood of any kind allowed him; as a result
he's become powerful, almost a superC.In his brief unlife he has managed, by
diablerie (by mostly willing donors) to gain powers/bloodlines making him several
clans of vampyre, plus part demon, part fae and whoall knows what else. The only
thing that prevents him from being completely god-mode and zippy is that he's
basically pacifist; it takes a lot to piss this C off enough to make it hurt
anyone. But wait, he's a vampyre right? (well, mostly).so, sure he
feeds...but not on YOUR character. Tay's on a strictly NPC diet.
NATE
MENDEL."I don't need a campy tagline!" A good...4? yes?no?
Nadine? years into this RP someone, Kirke perhaps, dug up info on Dave's old
bandmates who weren't Taylor just to blackmail him. these poor sensitive
humans...they could, you know, so easily wind up hurt...by now, the Cs
were living in an absolute crossover Hell of canon media and, JK
Rowling being the 'in' thing of the moment, wound up dealing with majik users of
the Hogwarts variety. An accidental mix up wound Nate up being sent an owl to
become a teacher there; by some sheer luck he turned out to be at least a squib,
if not a very pisspoor wizard. This, sadly, did not save him from the clutches of
his ex-bandmate Dave, however... at this time Nate spends most of his time with
Nad's character Imogene, who is an ex-Watcher (yes, of the Buffy the Vampire
Slayer variety) and Father Vincent, late of Silent Hill.
CANONS
for those about ta raaawk...FIRE! no, not CANNONS, canons. in other words, Cs
invented by someone else. I do my double durndest to play them as close to the
way you've seen them portrayed in film, games, TV,
whatever-media-I-skanked-them-from.
When you consider how far-from-their-media some storylines take them, I like to
think I do a pretty good job.
- Cs from: Buffy the Vampire Slayer/Angel the SeriesMy primary BtVS C
is Rupert Giles. My, how I like stuttering, staunchy old Rupert. As said, my Cs
reside in a crossover muddle, so he does now work in Hogwarts....well hey!
Sunnydale was a great gaping hole in the ground, where else was he going
to take a resume of the sort he has??? Occasionally, for variety if no one else
in a room is playing I've wandered Spike into the mix, but he's not a C I think I
could handle on a regular basis. There was that funny incident where he found
himself in Sin City...but another time, methinks. Not common in online RP, but
every so often in tabletops I play Wesley Wyndam-Pryce, and I've also been known
to throw in Ethan Rayne for villainous/comedic subplots, but Giles is my
mainstay.
-------------
Cs from: Konami's Silent Hill VGs.-of late,I've done a LOT with
Silent Hill.I'm in two livejournal communities with SH characters; they've
also finagled their way into a number of my regular tabletop and online gaming.
Altho at some point I'd like to try my hand at Ike from the 'Paint It Black'
comic, I have two mainstays I think I do pretty well with...
WALTER
SULLIVAN the man in the famous blue raincoat hisself, I've had a lot of fun
trying to put a more human face to the villain of Silent Hill 4:the
Room.In order to get him past that nasty in-game weakness of being unable to
climb ladders, I've taken from him that in-game godmode ability; the Guns Of
Never Ending Ammo. Not that Waltie's weak, mind you, altho given that
occasionally the god Valtiel wanders up to whisper in his ear, he's not exactly
the sanest of beasties. Still. I like to hope that where I play him he's at least
semi approachable; well, for a psychopath who's killed at least 19 people,
anyway.
FATHER VINCENT Father Vincent who? Nasty old Team Silent; they
never gave the poor bastard a last name, did they? or a backstory, so I've taken
the liberty of giving him one. I like to hope it's fairly well written; in it I
give him at least one or two last names he enjoys using.But...wait? didn't he
die in the end of Silent Hill 3? Well,of course he did
but...another oddball Konami glitch; after the cutscene, you never see the
body. Taking advantage of this, I figured 'what if' he survived somehow, and
tailored my backstory accordingly. To read my take on how he survived and what
he's doing with himself these days, check out the link somewhere near the end of
this page...
----------
other canons ov note...
SEVERUS
SNAPE Everybody's favourite supersarcastic teacher; this is the only
character from the Harry Potterverse I tend to play, as it's the only one
I can really tolerate. As I try very hard to play him true-to-form, Snape
is not at all cuddly, emo, or, for the most part, friendly to anyone. This
Snape will NOT snog with your Hermione, or your Draco or any of the other
Potterverse people (well, ok, maybe Tom Riddle, but that was a long! time
ago...)This Snape will not cut you a break on your homework assignments, nor will
he look the other way while you lord it over the other students (well, unless
you're a Slytherin he likes well enough).I tend to actually try to get Alan
Rickman's voice in my head when I write his dialogue. Not like, literally
but, you know, more as a guide- HWARST (How Would Alan Rickman Say This)? On the
whole Snape is not exactly likely to become your bestest buddy-or anyone's
'bestest' buddy!- anytime soon, but so long as you're not intimidated by him, he
can be good for a laugh, I suppose...
BONG.Bong is
a small alien (skanked lock, stock and copyright from the children's Tv show
"Tiny Planets") that I'd occasionally bring in in order to have a more
light-hearted 'fun' C; about the size of a cat but with six legs and incredible
bouncing capability; Bong mostly communicates in tiny happy sounds. Since most RP
rooms tend to be taverns, her favorite pasttime is knocking down colorful bottles
of alcohol to listen to the sound the glass makes, and begging hapless travellers
for fruit.
At times, I've also been known to play Gir from "Invader ZIM",Kai, the
BrunnenG assassin from the sci-fi series "Lexx", and Captain Jack Sparrow.

anyway, you've been waiting long enough, on to the long & lengthy writing
section.
keep in mind, i'm not deranged; i'm just really really bored.

At this particular point in time, having left a multifandom called polychromatic on a rather sour note (I...annoy powermad mods somehow. It's a long story) I find myself, well, not leading so much as kinda being the secretary of a livejournal RP community called Cradle of Forest. I'm one of the mods there- as said, usually the one who does all the shifting of html- occasional ST and player of the Cs in the pic above (assuming it's showing). Details below if you want em.
x cradle of forest x CoF OOC x logs and ongoing RPs x friends add x

x applications x taken characters x chatroom x locations x 101 x rules x
I love this comm very much too. It is the one I play Walter in.
