Nancy Isabella Wolf5, (Michael4, Jacob3, Michael2, Jacob1)  Nancy B. Wolf b. ca 1797, NC, d. ca 1847, AR, m. 7 May 1818, KY, Richard C. Hutcheson and they came to Baxter Co., AR, and settled near the Wolf establishment at the fork of the Northfork and White Rivers. They were engaged in farming and stock raising. After Nancy died in 1847, Richard remarried.  Richard and Nancy (Wolf) Hutcheson were the parents of twenty one children and then Richard and his second wife had a daughter and a son.

Drucilla, Samuel and Minnie were minors under 14 cited in a suit following their father's death (1863)
The Kentucky records of the Hutcheson in Hopkins County are sparse but, are quoted with some comments to reflect on their beginnings. Deed Book 3, page 42, Oct. 4, 1820 as recorded July 9, 1821; "George Wolf of Lawrence County and State of Missouri sells to Richard C. Hutcheson of Hopkins Co., KY for $228; 89 acres on Popular Creek, a head branch of Deer Creek, land bounded by John Pierson's land, (his land was later in Union Co., KY after Union Co., was formed). Samuel Compton's corner passing Michael Wolf's corner" attested; John Harvey Jr. and Thomas A. Compton. The George Wolf here May of 1820 according to court records here. Nancy's brother, Reverand John Wolf was to conduct a memorial service for Polly Pierson, a member of Major Wolf's household in 1859, and possibly of this Pierson family. It appears from this and subsequent land transactions that the Hutchesons did not depart KY with the Wolf-Adams clans in the 1818-1820 time frame. The "Harvey" name appears with the Hutcheson name later on in AR. The connections to these Harveys are not known.
Deed Book 9, page 245, February 13, 1840: "Richard C. Hutcherson of the county of Izard, State of AR, sells to Thomas Hobgood of Hopkins Co., for $200, 89 acres on Popular Creek, branch of Deer Creek and bounded by John Pierson". This 89 acres is the same acreage that Richard bought from George Wolf in 1820 for $228. The Hutcheson family was in our area(AR) according to our tax and census records as early as 1824.
Deed Book 4, page 66, April 4, 1822: "Richard C. Hutchison and Nancy Hutchison his wife, sell to Howel B. Cox, all of Hopkins Co., KY, for (do not know what this price is as one character in the amount is missing) $?35, 50 acres on Bull Creek, a branch of CrabOrchard Fort of Tradewater River. Nancy relinquishes her dower in said land. Recorded April 8, 1822.

Deed Book 7: "Thomas Hutcherson of Lunenberg Co., VA, appoints Dabney Brown as his attorney to collect from the estate of my brother, John Hutcherson, deceased. The administrator, John Crow, March 6, 1834. Witness John Harvey, Produced to me, the said county clerk on this day March 6, 1834, by Thomas Hutcherson". The Arkansas/Kentucky Hutchesons may have been from Lunenberg Co., VA.
Deed Book 8, page 385, March 3, 1834: "This indenture made March 3, 1834 between Richard C. Hutcherson, Thomas Hutcherson, John Crow and Nancy Crow his wife, Thomas Compton and Martha H., his wife, Dabney Brown and Elizabeth, his wife, all heirs of John Hutcherson, deceased, sell to Walter Cates, all of Hopkins County for $286, 100 acres". From the deed books you can see that John and Thomas were brothers but we do not know the relationship of 'Richard' other than he was an heir and that they were neighbors. Richard was in AR before 1824. The 1830 census, signed by Nancy's brother Major Wolf, does not show the children's names. It does show one male under 5, 4 females under 5 and 3 females 5-10 years of age. This was certainly a young and growing family with lots of daughters.

Richard and Nancy Hutcheson names appear on many land documents in AR showing that they had extensive land holding along the fertile White River. The family cemetery is located on part of their acreage above the river high water mark and was used as late as 1902 when Samuel S. Hutcheson (John Wm., Richard C) was buried. This graveyard, now grown up and long inactive, is thought to be the final resting place of Nancy and Richard, although practically all grave markers found to date are without inscription.   N
ote from Bob Bounds, her tombstone was crushed; down: covered: Katy cemetery.

The 1850 census for Richard C. Hutcheson, household 297, North Fork Township gives the following information: Richa C. Hutcheson, 58; Polly (McCubben), 34 wife; Cinderella, 20; Susan, 19 - attending school; Michael, 16; John, 15; Nancy F., 13; Margaret, 12; Richard, 11 - all listed as attending school; George, 8.  Missing children known to us and probably married are: Pernetta C. who was born about 1822 and married A.B. Hawkins and then Fielding Herron; Elizabeth D. who was born about 1823 and married William Pugh; Olizary Lucinda who was born Nov. 17, 1824 and died Feb 4, 1891, and married Henry W. Bandy and then Capt. S. J. McGuffin. According to Nancy Wolf Hutcheson's 1844 obituary, there were 14 surviving children. The hour and one half old child is known to be George who is shown as 8 years old on the 1850 census. So there are 3 children not accounted for in the time period 1844 to 1850.
This census also showed Amber and Ruth Casey as living in this household.

Religious affiliation of the Hutchesons appear to have been with the Baptist, in the early states. The family is mentioned as being in the Big Camp Meeting of the Missionary Baptist Church in 1843 which as upriver from their home. Then there are many Methodists in the family also so it could be said that t
he family was divided between the Methodist and Baptist faiths.

The North Fork store accounts of 1850-1853 show that Richard and his second wife Polly traded there.

Several of the males in this family served in the CSA.
_____

Richard was Commissioned 1st Lt. 12 May 1827 in Independence County, Arkansas Territory. He received 80 acres of AR land warrant #15631 for service as Pvt. in Capt Pools Co. 98 Reg, VA Militia, War of 1812.

This land was in the S.W. Qtr. of section 17 T.18, R12, on the left bank of the White River and on the opposite side of the River from his and Nancy's homestead. We do not know when they homesteaded on the right bank of the White River, but it had to be on or after 1828 as that was the year that the Cherokees relinquished their land and moved west. Their neighbors on the right bank were Peter F. Adams and Matthew Adams.
