George Washington WOLF5 (Jacob4,
Michael3 Jacob2, Michael1) George Washington Wolf, b. 1813 in KY, m. Melinda McFelch, b. 1818, AR.
There is a letter in the Adams book, cited below, which states the relationship
between Malinda McFelch Wolf and Ann Jane McFelch Wolf to be sisters. Ann
Jane McFelch Wolf was the wife of James M. Wolf the younger brother of George
Washington Wolf. (See James M. Wolf family history for more about the McFelch
family). George Washington Wolf and his family moved to Texas about 1870, first
to Mclennan Co. George's widow is found in Coryell Co., and later in
Rockdale, Milam Co. According to Warren Wolf's notes, one of his children,
Jane, married Dr. J.H.P. Wallis in Mountain Home and later moved to Rockdale
where Wallis was in the drug business. Jane was to have had five children at
least: Ella who married Tom Paul; Nell; George; Dr. "Dunk" Maude; and Dr.
Robert. Dr. "Dunk" Wallis and John Q. Wolf of Batesville, AR, married sisters.
Another daughter, Kate, married Dr. Sapp of Cameron, Texas and had one son who
died. Kate was living in Cameron in 1936. Malinda McFelch Wolf is buried
in the IOOF Cemetery in Milam County, TX . A burial site for George
Washington Wolf has not been found.

George Washington Wolf took children of his brother William M.
Wolf when he died in 1852 and they became orphaned in 1853 as his wife Pheobe
Kellough Wolf died, very likely in childbirth to a son born after her husband
died. They, children, are to be shown on the 1860 census in this household.
1860 Izard co., AR Census (Some of theses children belong to William M and
Pheobe Kellough Wolf who had both died by 1853 and the children were orphaned.)

his wife Melinda McFelch Wolf)
William S. WOLF b: 1851 in Fulton County, Arkansas (son of William M. Wolf and
orphan)
L. D. WOLF b: 1853 in Fulton County, Arkansas (son of William M. Wolf and

He was listed in North Fork Township, Page 435. George W. Wolf was 46, born
Kentucky, occupation given as blacksmith. He had real estate valued at $1000 and
personal property $800. His wife, Melinda was 23 (or so I thought, must be an
error), and children were Sarah Jane 22, Asa 19, Mary 16, William M. 14, Ann J.
11, Amanda 10, William S. 9 L. D. (m) 7, and Alice 4.
His son Jacob M. Wolf was 15 at 1850 census, he d. 20 Nov 1870

substituted for George Washington's half brother Joseph Marion Wolf in Civil War
service.

Jacob M. Wolf
generation 6
b. 1838 had a storied Civil War record. ID: I5756341. He was a
Mason and Confederate soldier. We believe this person to be one of the J.M.
Wolfs shown on the Adams Lodge records of Norfork, AR. He is the person
who substituted for Joseph Marion Wolf, his father's half brother in the
Civil War. In those Civil War records some times he is referred to
as Jake. He had an interesting military career. He fought in some bloody
battles. He was captured at the bloody battle of "Stone River" in
Tennessee and served in several P.O.W, camps in Illinois and finally
escaped. He petitioned October 4, 1860 to the Lodge as did his father,
George Washington Wolf, petition the same year, but an earlier date.
It is known that his parents went to TX and then even returned to AR,
maybe. The last record on his parents is in Texas. However, Jacob M.
Wolf is buried in the Old Wolf Cemetery in Baxter Co., AR
dated 1870-1872. It could have been that his parents went to
Texas after his death.
Asa M. Wolf generation 6
was b. 1841 in AR
and is found on the 1860 census with his
parents. His civil war record found in the Index to Arkansas
Confederate Soldiers, Volume III, P-Z, Page 189 shows Wolf, Asa M: Co. H; 27 ARk
Inf: Pvt/Pvt. He must have come to Texas with his parents and other family
members about 1870. We know that his first wife, Sarah Adams - daughter of
John Quincy and Elizabeth Avarillo Tinnin Adams had two children before she died
in Bell County, TX in 1871. We find a marriage record for Asa and a second
wife in Robertson County TX in 1875. Asa M. Wolf is found as 38 born
in AR living in Coryell Co., TX on 1880 census page 0406b He is married to
someone named Myra Smith, listed as being born in NC and 28 years of age.
The J. Adams age 54 and born in AR is also shown at this household number would
be the sister to the Malinda Wolf age 63, and Asa's mother also shown. So
perhaps the Alexander Adams born in TX age 18 in the household is Ann Jane
MeFelch Wolf Adams's son by her second marriage to R. Ervin Adams. Ann Jane
McFelch Wolf Adams was first married to James M. Wolf Sr., brother to Asa M.
Wolf's father George Washington Wolf. The Urah L. Wolf shown on that 1880
census is the son of Asa and his first wife, Sarah Adams, just listed as Lee in
the Tinnin Trecks publication by Dorothy Tinnin Norris and Mary Tinnin Barber,
page 54. That book only shows two children by the first wife, the second a
daughter Gerogia A. (Wolf) Craig, and she is also on the 1880 census. I have
since traced the family to Oklahoma territory where a child was born in 1886. Asa and Myra and her father are found on the 1900 census and then Myra is found
as a widow on the 1910 OK census.

Mary E. Wolf generation 6 b. 1844 cannot be traced
exactly. I cannot trace
one of these two daughters - Mary and Amanda- and
I believe it most likely to be this one, Mary.
Amanda Wolf generation 6
b. 1849 (as found on 1880 Croyell Co., TX census
with Wolf family and shown to be sister to Asa M. Wolf) cannot be traced
exactly. I find nothing referring to her by the name Amanda except tat one
census record. She was not shown on the AR census with her parents because
she would have been too young perhaps. Or perhaps she was referred to
by another name, Ann. I have nothing to prove that she was the one
referred to as Kate. It is thought that the wife of Dr. Sapp went by
the name of Kate. I just believe she is the one because she was alive in
1880 and with her mother who ended up in Milam County where another daughter was
living. The age is the thing that does not seem to check out.
Name: Kate T. Wolf
Sex: F
Death: 1947 in Milan Co. Tex.
Marriage 1 Monroe C. Sapp b: 29 Sep 1864 in Butler Co. Ala.
Married: 3 Sep 1891 in Milam Co. Tex.
Children
Pope Sapp b: 13 Dec 1892 in Milam Co. Tex.
_____
Dr. Sapp's wife was Kate Wolf and suppose to be the daughter of George
Washington and Malinda McFelch Wolf as listed in Warren Wolf's notes. According
to 1920 census the wife of Dr. Sapp was 57 and that would mean she was born
about 1863. That does not fit with any data I can find. The youngest child of
George Washington Wolf was born in 1849 and would have been Amanda. I do
not know which of the daughters, Amanda or Mary E. was the wife of Dr. Sapp or
if in fact either daughter was his wife.
_____
On the census record there is a daughter Mary E. and she may have been called
Kate but no proof.
_____
On the census record there was a daughter Amanda or Ann and she may have been
called Kate but no proof.
1930 Census, Monroe C. Sapp is 51 and wife is 57.
