I only find one Dunn listing on the 1860 Dent Co. census transcript Sinking Twp. Page 123-811 #811-813
DUNN, Elizabeth age 65, born VA
(I had hoped this might be the mother of Geroge W. Dunn since the 1880 census for him shows that his mother was born in VA but the age of this person makes her more likely the grandmother of Geroge W. Dunn. If George Dunn married in Dent Co., MO in 1871 then his parents should be living in the area, perhaps. The only listing that I could find in either 1860 or 1870 in Dent County MO was for an Elizabeth Dunn. In 1860 she was living alone and in 1870 she was living in the household of the Jesse McCarter(y) family. It appeared that she must be the mother of Margaret McCarter so I searched backward and found that she was Margaret Dunn daughter of William and Elizabeth Merriott Dunn. She had an unnamed brother born in TN and then two brothers, William Wesley Dunn and another unnamed brother both born in AL. Margaret and William Wesley can both be traced to MO from AL. note by db)

Notes for MALE DUNN: These are possible candidates to be this person.  His son was referred to as George W. Dunn, Jr so perhaps his name was George.  That is the only reason for these entries - there is NO proof as to what his given name was.

(1) HARRIET YORK, daughter of Asa and Rhoda Ramsey York on 17 May , 1871. in Dent County MO.   She was b. 1845, Franklin, GA and she is found with father Asa on 1860 Dent Co., MO Census;  Harriet York Dunn died Aft. 1884,in childbirth and is buried on the banks of the  White River in North Western AR.  She and the child were buried together.  The family was in route to Texas from MO so legend has it.

 Parentage for G.W. Dunn has not been positively identified but is somewhat established by tracing Dunn found in Dent County MO at the time of the marriage.   His grandmother Elizabeth Dunn is living there as well as one of her daughters.  George would be descended from her unnamed son on the TN census where the family is found.  It appears that Elizabeth one son John Wesley Dunn and one daughter moved from there to MO.  It is not certain what happened to the parents of G.W. himself.

G.W. Dunn, Jr and 2nd wife  MINNIE REED:

I believe this Minnie, the widow of George W. Dunn Jr. who died in 1907, then remarried to the Edward Dunn. Two of her children that belong to George W. Dunn Jr. are living with G.F. Abbey family in the 1910 census. According to that record, G.F. Abbey was a native of NY and his wife Bonelea was a native of MO. They are all about the same age in 1910. G.F. is 42, Bonelea and Minnie are 34. I do not know why the two boys are living with the Abbeys.

Then, I find a marriage license in Oct 1909 for a J.F. Abbey 43, and a Minnie Dunn, 18. So I believe that G.F. Abbey was the brother to Minnie's 2nd husband. Her first husband had died in 1907, so she married Abbey in 1909. He must have died or what ever else, as she is shown in the 1910 census as married to Edward Dunn. There is a daughter age 2 shown. That daughter could belong to Edward and his first wife or it could belong to Edward and Minnie or it could belong to Minnie and her Abbey husband. It is known that Minnie Dunn had a son Herman A. Dunn born in 1910. The only problem with this data is that the age of the Minnie who married the J.F. Abbey would be incorrect to make her our Minnie. But I believe the compelling evidence of our Minnie's two sons living with the brother of the J.F. Abbey is enough to warrant speculation that they are the same person.
