ANTON SZANDOR LAVEY
Anton Szandor LaVey: Satan Takes A Holiday
Come on along, Charon awaits us! Let us board the boat, & take this satanic holiday. We shall take a tour of the many interesting & entertaining dimensions of the devil's realm. We travel through time, & witness the wailing & joyful souls, floating & echoing, & haunting about us, beckoning our souls to dance upon the black flames.
As with all of his previous works {Strange Music & The Satanic Mass}, Anton LaVey performs musickal rituals that brings the infernal trinity of emotion - wrath, lust, & compassion, unto manifestation.
These tunes are a rare treat, as they come straight from sincere, heartfelt emotion, which may now be considered "corny" by the increasingly desensitized & jaded populace.
We are delighted by the impishly playful "Satan Takes A Holiday", which I also recall as being the theme musick for one Lawrence Welke Halloween show, in which two devils danced effervescently upon the earth, deep into the night, as the town's people cowered in their homes. The vocal track of same features Blanche Barton, as well as "Blue Prelude", another one of these suicide songs, like Gloomy Sunday {Strange Music}, which relieved many a wretch from their misery.
Nick Bougas lends his exceptional vocal talents to several selections herein. He has a bright future in the past. I was delighted to hear the theremin used within in couple of pieces, that "spookaphone" used in many of the classic horror & science-fiction movies. It was invented in the early 1920's by Russian physicist Leo Theremin. The theremin could be called the father of modern-day synthesizers. It basically resembles a small table {or box} with an antenna that tunes in to the ethers. The pitches of the vibrating tones are operated the player, who moves his hands in the proximity of the antenna. The closer one gets, the higher the pitch. The farther, the lower. Waving the hand controls the vibrato.
So, the theremin, along with other not-so-much heard instruments, comprise much of the opus. All pulled out of Dr. LaVey's memories, & recreated back perfectly into reality. All of these songs will evoke something from you, whether it be because of the lyricks, the musick, or both. To many who are soley steeped in Death Metal, this musick will be a revelation, a veritable awakeinig of other unexercised senses. I have found, that with an eclectic mix of musickal styles, can, like a glass of fine wine between servings of a fine meal, rejuvinate the pallet, & stimulate a more profound recognition & appreciation of all expressions of Satanic sentiment. The contrasts are most engaging!
Every song, no matter how jovial, sounds eerie, thus keeping with the theme of the Infernal Majesty taking a vacation for a little while. If Satan took a break, went on a cruise, travelled about for pleasure, instead of some "job" of being constantly "evil", this is probably what it would sound like, translated through the creative mind & talented hands of His High Priest, & Our Black Pope, Anton LaVey.
All the way through, until the morbidly majestic "Satanis Theme", Satan Takes A Holiday will always prove to be a most memorable trip.

Anton Szandor LaVey: The Satanic Mass
This is it! The original recording resurrected & brought to CD! At long last, the echoes of The Satanic Mass can be heard in your home, compleat with The Hymn To Satan, The Destruction Ritual, The Lust Ritual, & Zeena's Satanic Baptism, which I found to be particularly moving. But that's not all! We are also graced by the Doctor reciting The Book Of Satan from THE SATANIC BIBLE. If that wasn't enough, we also get treated to The Hymn Of The Satanic Empire as a bonus track. Plus, the mysterious ninth track, "March D'Anunzio".
When listening to THE SATANIC MASS, remember to keep the light off. Or have dim illumination in the dead of the night, as recommended by Doctor LaVey, & dictated by uncommon morbid sense. The Satanic Mass is sure to entertain, as well as keep one in deep contemplation, & bestow great solemnity.

Magus Peter H. Gilmore: Threnody For Humanity
Finally, the long-awaited release from High Priest Gilmore has been unleashed - a Death Scenes collection compiled in this atmospheric compendium misanthropos melancholia with soundscapes and images reaching deep into the dark subconscious. A veritable Jungian journey in sight and sound which is evocative, Magical, and eerily triumphant in its daemonic fanfare.
As explained within the booklet, these orchestrations originally accompany the gruesome plethora of death and gore-laden footage amassed by Producer Nick Bougas {Speak of The Devil} for his morbid creation, the Death Scenes series, which also features Dr. LaVey narrating volumes I & II. The insert also features The 7th Statement, and a loving dedication to High Priestess Nadramia, and is also a Memoriam to Anton Szandor LaVey.
In particular, I enjoyed portions from 'Man's Destiny' and 'Requiem To Morrow' which employs what sounds like the knocking on skulls and the sounds of the chiming of a Grandfather clock, a-la "the ticking of time..." 'Consciousness Raising' bestows the impression of a futuristic battle amongst the forces of Ming the Merciless, with laser blasts and theremin effects.
The splendid artwork of Stephen Kasner lends most appropriate ornamentation in a dream-like, nightmarish opus; the front image, entitled "Away", appears to be a figure in a terrible desolation {the "abomination of desolation", as it were}, and to Me, the back image {entitled "I Love You"}, resembles Vampiric tendrils emergng from the bottomless abyss to draw the lifeforce of some unfortunate herdling, as well as the said titled phrase carrying an underlying meaning as to its true purpose.
To fill the chambre with its musings may cause euphoric vertigo and inspire dark visualizations. Each piece taps a dimension, like reposing within the blackened fetters of a psychomantium, gazing deep within the lambent mirror lit only with infernal light. Highly recommended.

Le'rue Delashay
Musick In Theory & Practice | The Court Composer | The Law of 8ve
For those searching for fine ritual music to accompany your rites, nocturnal activities, or just to pass the time absorbing the eerily inspiring atmosphere these CD's create, I heartily recommend the works of Le'rue Delashay to compliment your ritual chambers and overall Lair, whether by overcast day or enchanted night.

The strains of these brilliant orchestrations are a definite pleasure to enjoy, bringing musickal artistry to resplendent life. Delashay is a living virtuoso who conjures caliginous visions from the abyss of his own tenebrious imagination to reflect our own dark sides. The infernal spark of diabolical genius accompanies each opus, easily recalling the legacy of the timeless masters of yore.

Satanists would gain great gratification from these compositions, for besides his works, it is known that Delashay is himself a Satanist, truly understanding the darkness within. So allow these manifestations to fan the black flame, and soar on the wings of daemons.

Le'rue Delashay
The Revelations of Wave & Form
Orchestral bliss, forboding, inspiring, empowering, each peice creates an intensely evocative and psychodramatic mood to enhance one's total environment and ritual activities. Besides the haunting embience, this opus also contains a certain martial feel on a couple of selections, even inclusive of accentuating horse and sword sounds {He Rides Through Hallow's Eve}.
Among the treats, besides Magus LaVey's black anthem 'Battle Hymn of The Apocalypse', Beethoven's Sonata "Pathetique" also graces this opus, which was quite a delighful surprise as well, and 'Once Upon A Midnight Dreary' is a most fitting tribute to Edgar Allen Poe's pleasantly macabre poem. And for those who were not previously familiar with it, "Manifesting The Sorcerer's Lore" originally within Delashay's other project "Theatre of The Macabre" by the same name, is enhanced herein also.
Included on the CD is the musickal video accompaniment for Delashay's rendition of 'Battle Hymn of The Apocalypse', a profoundly inspiring homage produced by Magister Paradise, starring Delashay, Bill M, and Colonel Akula, who demonstrate the over-the-hip flip, as well as The Four-Crown Princes of Hell represented by the elements, and the striking statue of Magus LaVey created by Warlock Moore, displayed in the impressively replicated concrete jungle.
As mentioned in the splendidly ornate booklet, we can look forward to many more marvellous orchestrations, including an opera "Diablerie", and subsequent Magical compositions created especially for Ritual Chamber meditation.
The Revelations of Wave & Form is another musickal victory for Malefik Meistro Delashay.
Bravisimo!

Travellng through the thick foliage of black forest underneath the moon's gaze, the fog increases as you near the omninous Mansion - at the iron gate, a phantasmic gentleman beckons one to enter the gloriously gloomy estate... and enter we will... there is no turning back. A strange chanting fills your mind as vertigo overtakes the consciousness, the shadows deepen beyond the creeking door, as the candlebrum is lit, and now into the labyrinthine hallways.
The musick is repleat with a mystical ambience flowing to take you into this infamous legend. The booklet is spooktacular in its artisry, relating the tale as well as poetry. As revealed by a yellowed scroll, seems Mr. Damon Darklore had been experimenting with some Dark Sorcery, uncovered by the swinging bookcase which leads into a secret chambre. A wonderful surprise awaits on track 21, so keep listening. The astute will discover the interactive booklet contains various clues and indications relating to both the story and the music itself.

Nox Arcana: Winter's Knight
Here is Solstice musick for our kind - every song geared towards a winter theme, ergo, the title "Winter's Knight", displaying a black winged Knight wielding a sword in the midst of the graceful falling of first snow...
There are a couple of traditional tunes herein such as "Veni, Veni, Emmanuel", "God Rest Ye Merry Gentleman", and even a folk song "Coventry Carol" floats through the forest from an arcane time long ago... yet they are done in a manner that is most mystically enchanting - veritably 'darkened' to taste. Haunted Winter cantibles, to be sure.
The overall impression derived is that of an abandoned windblown cathedral still resonating its ghostly orchestras, both angelic and monk-like choirs, with phantom fingers at the splenderous organ creating the soundtrack of nightmares and dreams in this magical season, spread forth across the year through. There are occasional inclusions of classical guitar, distant church bells, howling wind, and poetic narrations enriches the opus creating one-of-a-kind compositions ideal for Solstice celebration and beautifully evocative ponderation.
