Day Trading Computers

What type of computer do I need for day trading?

For more information, you can read through the Day Trading Computer section of this site.

Nowadays computers are very cheap. As long as you buy one of the most common microprocessors in the market (top Intel or AMD models), two of the most important hardware requirements for your day trading workstation are the RAM (Random Access Memory) and the display screen you use. Make sure that your computer comes with at least 1 GB or more of RAM [2 GB preferred]. It is also easier on your eyes if you get a flat LCD screen. Right now I am using three 19-inch flat LCD screens on my day trading computer with two ATI dual head video cards on Windows XP Pro.

With two ATI video cards I can actually run 4 monitors, but I have enough with three. If it won't put too much of a dent in your wallet, I recommend that you at least get a dual head video card (fancy name for a video card that you can connect two monitors to) like ATI - and two 17" LCD screens. Believe me, once you try a two-monitor day trading computer, you will never go back to one.

For advanced traders that are scalping or generating a lot of quick transactions, a more robust computer might be necessary. I work hand in hand with a trading computer company that helps us with traders. Learn more about this in the trading computer section of my website.
