Meeting Participants & Club Officers

President 

S/he presides over the business meeting, delegates responsibility, represents our club in area and district activities and provides overall direction for the club.

Secretary / Treasurer 

S/he maintains the current membership roster, maintains minutes of the executive committee meetings, maintains club correspondence, collects dues, pays bills and maintains financial records.

Toastmaster 

S/he acts a the master of ceremonies.  This involves setting the mood of the meeting, introducing the speakers and participants, and maintain the overall flow of the meeting.

General Evaluator 

S/he presides over the evaluation portion of the meeting.  This includes introducing the other evaluators, Ah counter and timer, and evaluating the overall meeting.

VP of Education 

S/he plans meeting assignments and programs, presides in the absence of the President, and is available for advice and assistance.

Sergeant At Arms 

S/he is the club host.  This includes arranging the meeting room and greets the members and guests.

Invocator 

S/he is a member assigned to give an invocation for the meeting.  This can be a short prayer, poem or inspirational message.  This is an opportunity to practice an invocation that the invocator might be called on to give.

Evaluator 

There is an Evaluator for each speaker.  This involves giving the evaluator's opinion on what the speaker did right and giving suggestions for improvement.

VP of Administration 

S/he is in charge of building and maintaining the club membership.  This includes organizing membership contests and contacting potential new members.

Newsletter Editor 

S/he publishes the monthly club newsletter.  This includes editing articles submitted by our club members and writing news articles about our club and members.

Topicmaster 

S/he presides over an impromptu discussion.  This involves giving the club a topic and the format for table topics.

Grammarian 

S/he points out use of filler words (ah, um, etc.) improperly used words, excessive use of clichés and colloquialisms, mispronounced words, and errors in grammar.

VP of Public Relations 

S/he is in charge of promoting our club in the community including advertising in papers and creating a poster campaign.  S/he appoints or serves as Newsletter Editor.

Speakers 

They prepare and deliver a speech from one of the communication and leadership manuals.  The goals and format are provided by the manual, but the topic is the speaker's choice.

Table Topics Participants 

They deliver a short impromptu speech using the topic and format provided by the topic master.  (Guests can participate if they want.)

Timer 

S/he helps keep the meeting running on time.  This involves timing the different portions of the meeting.
