Dax Griffin, who played cheating-heart Tim Truman on the ever-loved Sunset Beach, is ready to make a commitment - back in daytime that is. The hunky blond with the bedroom eyes has just signed with soaps übermanager Michael Bruno, the man who landed former Passions star Bruce Michael Hall a contract role on One Life to Live. "An ex-girlfriend of mine told me to talk to [Bruno], who has pretty much all the connections in daytime," shares Griffin. "Besides that, he's a really cool guy." Griffin is hoping to reincarnate himself as daytime's fave bad boy with a good heart. "I want to be the character where people can't just point to him as good," explains Griffin. "I want viewers to say, 'He's a little complex,' and have get to know him a little bit. My ideal role would be mysterious, but have heart and really care for the girl he's trying to go after." Hmmm, sounds like a role up for grabs on a certain West Coast soap. Has Griffin made the auditioning rounds? "I'm making them all over," he teases, and that includes parts produced in the Big Apple. "I've heard that shooting a soap in New York is a little different than Los Angeles, so it would take getting used to [New York City]," he pauses dramatically, "but I could do it."
Griffin has kept himself busy since Sunset Beach ended in 1999. "I did a prime-time show, Opposite Sex, on Fox, where I played a student-teacher who was a recovering drug addict. It's always fun to do that," he says with a chuckle. Griffin has also starred in independent films, including a peek at Hollywood's underside in Free with Randall Batinkoff. "I play an actor," he says, "and I'm Ione Skye's boyfriend. Randall was my agent, and I was the up-and-coming movie star." But his heart still belongs to the daytime screen. "It's a medium I know how to do," he says confidently. "Hopefully, there will be a character in there that I can really connect with."
