This has been a work in progress for me for a long time. DJB&H is my favorite time period for Davy's work. I don't know what exactly it is that draws me to it...Perhaps it is the mysterious lack of stories in existence of fans who saw them in those shows or the fact that Davy and Micky just couldn't (or wouldn't) let The Monkees die even when it seemed it was destined to do so, for the time being anyway. They even continued on as a duo and trio with Micky's sister, Coco, after Boyce and Hart stopped touring with them. I'm most fascinated by the way Davy and Micky handled themselves after being at the top of the world for a few brief years and ending up playing small clubs and riverboats. It is my pure delight to have befriended someone who was close to Davy at the time who thought enough about it to save her pictures. These are some of the only known fan pictures to exist from this time period and capture the essence of Davy, Micky, Tommy and Bobby both onstage and offstage. Granted, some of these pictures may be of better quality than others but that is what makes them truly special. They were never intended to be shared with thousands of fans over the internet 30 years later but am I glad to have the chance to do so. More importantly, I am glad that The Monkees didn't in fact die at the conclusion of these 1970s tours when Micky and Davy's futures as entertainers must've been very uncertain for them both. I am honored to be able to share these pictures with you exclusively here. If you have some stories or pictures to share, please let me know. Enjoy!
