In the middle of the Spring half-term, we decided to travel north to Gateshead to see the new Antony Gormley exhibition at the Baltic in Gateshead. I had tons of coursework to do for my MSc course, so I was only too glad to escape for the day. We're big fans of his, and it wasn't lost on us that we'd been to another of his exhibitions before, about as far away from Gateshead as possible, yet still remaining in England, and that was when we visited St Ives a couple of years ago (see the St Ives Gormley stuff here). The Baltic is, itself quite an impressive building, being a converted flour mill. The photo below is taken from "Building of the Year" - the Millenium Bridge over the River Tyne. |
