Torgon village was a good place to stock up on essentials, like chocolate and wine and the houses were all Swiss chalet style and decked with flowers. I really wouldn't like to come here in winter, I know it's a ski resort, but it feels fairly precipitous and I wouldn't like to travel up and down the road in the snow. It was bad enough in the middle of summer - only just wide enough for two cars. As we drove down I used to love looking down on the church and schoolyard (right) perched defiantly on their rocky promontory. It took me a couple of days to realise that we actually drove directly past it on our long winding journey. The road would snake so much that I would lose my sense of direction |
