Switzerland 2005

I think I knew Switzerland was going to be friendly when the security guard at the airport beckoned me into the left luggage office, forcing me to leave our suitcases and bags behind. "It'sh OK!" he said "No-one ish going to touch them. You are in Switsherland!"

These photos were taken in the town of Aigle, our nearest "big" town, though in truth, it was quite a sleepy place with a chateau (bottom right) and every other conceivable space taken up with vineyards. I don't think I tasted a bad wine in Switzerland, but you would be hard pressed to find Swiss wine in the supermarkets back home as they don't make enough to export.
The locals were friendly, and went out of their way to talk to us and ask us where we were from, where we were staying etc.

The weather was scorching all the time we were there and the air was filled with the sound of grasshoppers morning, noon and night.
