One place we heartily recommend in Valetta to go and see is the Cathedral of St John the Baptist. This is the HQ of the Order of the Knights of St John, who ruled the island for centuries. The interior is completely over the top in it's opulence, particularly the tombstones of the knights that pave the floor.
