Lincolnshire 2008
An old army observation point overlooks the Wash at Gibraltar Point and you can still spot the present day bombing targets across the water. These days the post is converted into a bird hide. A flock of several thousand lapwing had arrived and had stationed themselves along the mudflats as I scanned the horizon.

Walking back out along the beach, you really have to remind yourself how close you are to the seediness of Skegness. I could point my camera in that direction and not see the lights from a single arcade (below). I could have been miles from anywhere.
