Lincolnshire 2008 |
The jewel of the Lincolnshire coast lies two and a half miles south of Skegness. Gibraltar Point Nature Reserve with it's informative and engaging visitor's centre lies where the coast starts to bend round into The Wash. Easy paths peppered with bird hides and look out points traverse the salt flats. Me and my binoculars could easily spend a happy day here.
The visitors centre does a cracking hot vegetarian lunch, by the way. I spent three years of my youth in East Anglia, so it took me back to spot a pill-box left over from the Second World War - these gun-emplacements are quite a common sight on the east coast: ready for a German invasion that never materialised. |
