Edit the Registry file to
accept .PQA
files for Installation
Last updated: 9-26-2000
Introduction
If you are having problems getting your HotSync Application Installer to recognize .PQA files as valid files to install on your Palm, follow the instructions below to edit your Registry to fix the problem. Warning! The Registry file is a very important file on your system and you should take great care when deleting or modifying any of it's contents!
Step 1 - Start up the RegEdit program on your Desktop System
You can either look for the "RegEdit" application on your "Start" menu, or open a DOS window and type in "regedit" to bring up the Registry Editor (Figure 1).

Figure 1Step 2 - Search for the proper string to change in RegEdit
Once the RegEdit program starts up, you should do a search on the string "HotSync Manager" or "Extensions". Keep searching until you see something similar to Figure 2.

Figure 2Step 3 - Edit the "Extensions" Entry
You can see that on my system, the "Extensions" variable has the .pqa extensions identified for the HotSync installer. You will need to modify this variable and add .pqa extensions so they look like what is shown in Figure 2. Double click on the "Extensions" line, and you should have an edit box similar to Figure 3.
