The Sweetest Danger
Didn't know what you were thinking
Just knew what I knew
Didn't think two people
Could close such a distance
in hours so few
Dimmed lights,
revealing the curve of you lips
gentle eyes shining brightly.
Words pouring out,
cascading with mildness and passion.
White-water thoughts and calm reflections,
the texture of our lives past,
describing an arc of the future.
Yet hearts do not wager
Or ask questions
they only react to the danger
of knowing too fast
of possible unions
and a loving embrace
Two kisses exchanged, light touch of the hand
the memory lingers, don't try to understand
but this danger is real and I want it this way
Falling only hurts when it brings things to an end
but when it lights a new hope
then falling is freedom,
lifting hearts,
and the promise....of a journey
