Random Images of Aviation

Over the past few years, when taking a step back from my activities as a pilot, I've managed to capture a number of images that attempt to capture the feeling of aviation from different points of view.  Included below are some of my personal favourites.

A quick hand held shot grabbed while soaring.  If you look at the larger image, you'll see that the Vertical Speed Indicator shows a slight positive reading.  This means that the glider was climbing ever so slightly on this day of marginal soaring coniditions.

An early morning image, taken while the sun was just coming up on the horizon.  The contrast of the yellow fin and rudder was spectacular against the saturated deep blue of the early morning sky.

Looking into the business end of the glider, a closeup of the pitot tubes that provide the pressure signals that drive the flight instruments.

An early morning dew drop hanging solitarily from the trailing edge of the wing.

One of the last acts of putting the gliders 'to bed' for the day, installing the spoiler covers to keep birds from nesting in the wing.

More dew formations, on the side window, capturing an early morning moodiness.
