Southern Ontario Gliding Centre

The gliding centre operates out of St. Catherine's Municipal Airport in St. Catherine's, Ontario.  Located in the Niagara Peninsula, it offers a good view of the entire region including Toronto, Buffalo and of course, Niagara Falls.  While you can't really make out the Falls from overhead the airport, the distant constant plume of mist reveals its location on all but the most foggy or hazy of days.C

A midday sojourn while the the staff grab some lunch.
Again, two gliders tied down briefly.  Yes, we do more than eat lunch!
Giving the 'thumbs up' for clearance to launch by the Air Boss (aka Launch Control Officer).
Checking the winds with the handheld anemometer.
A last minute briefing at the side of the tow plane prior to launch.
The thin yellow line that translates effort into altitude for the gliders. Seen here is the rear end of the tow plane and it's connection to the tow rope.
Always watchful of the ongoing flight operations, a few of the staff members are keeping an eye on the local traffic.
