General Travels
I've had the pleasure of heading off to many locale's over the years. Most of this has been business travel, but occasionally I deign to head off on pleasure. Either way, I tend to drag along my camera gear a bit. Sometimes this annoys any travel companions I may have, but I just wouldn't be happy traveling without a means of capturing the more unique and interesting sights along the way.
I've tried to choose some of the more interesting places I've been and share them here as a bit of a 'grab bag' of images.
Memories of my childhood are captured in this place. I recall watching the Apollo 11 mission and hearing those immortal words of Neil Armstrong. This place sends chills up my spine. The Saturn V rocket is absolutely huge. It amazes me to imagine these things heading off into space, over 30 years ago. | ![]() |

There is nothing as enjoyable (well, few things) as watching the Iron Horse in action. This one is preserved for all to enjoy in Tottenham, Ontario, just a little drive north of Toronto. If you like old 'stuff', its worth the drive to take advantage of one of the excursion rides they do. |
Halloween was waiting patiently in the wings when this photo was taken. I was our driving about just north of Guelph, Ontario and I spotted this harvest. Which one it is The Great One, I wonder? | ![]() |

Late evening on the 4th of July weekend in Illinois. Half an hour after this, the sky nearby was filled with the crackle of fireworks. |

A rather obtuse image, taken in the outdoor Sculpture Gardens in Windsor, Ontario. As I travel through Windsor regularly for work, I kept seeing the signs for this place. Its worth the visit! This is one of the large scale sculptures there that invite you to walk up and examine them. |
Also in Windsor, this small spot would probably not seem so inviting at night. This is a now disused rail corridor that once carried goods to the Canada/US border. | ![]() |

Now, I still have yet to get an explanation for this vessel. This boat resides along the shoreline of Lake Ontario, just outside of St. Catherines. It's been there a few years now. I suspect its a derelict from an old movie set, but I'm not sure. |
This turns out to be one of my favourite photos. There is really no way of saying what this is unless you've seen it in person. What it is, of course (?), is a glass sculpture in the collection held at the Detroit Institute of Art. They have an amazing collection of glasswork and it's rapidly becoming one of my favourite forms of art. | ![]() |
