The Last Thing


"I will be alone for this birth."

"Miral, my place is by your side."

"I will face the pain alone. It is the warrior's way."

"I thought we could make our own way."

"Get out!"

Why, Miral wondered, could he not respect her wishes? Life with this 
human was sometimes harder than she had imagined.



Much later, they both gazed adoringly on their new born daughter.

"Beautiful, is she not?"

"Almost as beautiful as you, my proud Klingon warrior. And she'll be 
named B'Elanna."

"As we agreed."

Neither realised it would be the last thing they would ever agree on.
