Baby Talk


The room was dark, but Tom Paris could make out every ridge on his 
baby daughter's forehead. He pulled back the blanket and traced them 
gently.

"Muh."

"You want what?"

"Muh!"

"You want the milk?" He reached carefully for the bottle.

Suddenly, chubby little fingers grabbed his windpipe, and a squeaky 
little voice growled, "Give me the milk, Pe'taQ, or I shall bathe in 
the blood of your loved ones!"

Tom sat bolt upright in bed, suddenly awake, and fumbled for his 
commbadge.

"Paris to Torres."

"What?" Her voice was still angry.

"You're right. We're not ready for children yet."
