The first flight was a bit scary. I didn't know how it would fly, or if the camera would work.
From left to right:
Shot 1: The moment of launch. You can just about make out the launch crew. You would expect the motion blur to be vertical, not horizontal!
Shot 2: Wow, crazy take off angle. This is taken as the rocket leaves the launch rod. I think a combination of events caused this. First the rocket is too heavy for the launch rod. Next the camera is activated by pulling a clip from a 'normally closed, held open' microswitch. This is attached to a string and tied to the ground with a tent peg. The peg was way off to the side and I think that this pulled the rocket to one side as it took off. This bent the rod, which then 'twanged' vertical when the clip came off. Anyway it explains the horizontal motion!
From left to right:
Shot 13: This is some time after ejection, looking north.
Shot 14: My favourite shot.
Shot 16: Looking east. That's the road that leads up onto Baildon Moor. By this time the rocket is over the hill above the plateau.
From left to right:
Shot 17: Looking east towards the campsite.
Shot 18: Looking up the hill towards the OS triangulation post.
Shot 19: Looking down the hill. There's still a lot of motion blur here. I thought the later shots would have come out better than this. I suppose the camera must have still been rotating on the end of the chute.
From left to right:
Shot 20: These last three are pretty close to the ground.
Shot 21: Not sure of the orientation now, but the camera seems to have stopped spinning.
