Title: Red Velvet
Medium: Pencil on paper Drawn on: 03.6.15 More practice trying to draw fabrics. I think I shaded this thing right so that the dress looks like velvet. It does to me, anyway. And yes, those are leather thigh-high boots she's wearing, and she's got a necklace with a large ruby in it around her neck. I was debating coloring this in Photoshop, but I decided not to, feeling that it might somehow detract from my shading. Don't ask me to explain, that's just how I feel. So you just have to imagine that she's a blue-eyed brunette wearing a scarlet-velvet dress and thigh-high black leather boots. --Mina 03.6.16 I showed the pic to Farf's partner Maoric (a digital arts major) and told him about my trying to make the dress fabric look like velvet. Velvet is a pain in the ass and is very difficult to shade-in, drawing-wise. He said the contrast was too sharp, so I did some shading shading to soften the contrast, and he said it was much better. So, you get to see the pic before and after shading. ^^ --Mina 03.06.19 |
