The Ocean

The Ocean covers the majority of planet Earth. And from shore, it seems to go on forever. The ocean stretches from continents and is miles deep. With these proportions, any aircraft carrier or oil rig may seem like ants on the seemingly limitless sea. The ocean lies countless species and many phenomenons. that to this day, are still being discovered. Also, the ocean not only gives us fish to eat, it also gives us oxygen to breathe as well. I did not believe this, but this video helped me get at least a better understanding of how.

The ocean amazes me in the way that I cannot even begin to fathom the complexities and different forms of fish and plankton there are. I am wowed that the largest animal in the world, which is the blue whale, feeds on Krill and on the microscopic zooplankton. How can such a large organism live off of such small prey?

The ocean also holds one the world's not only simplest organisms, but one of the most ancient. I cannot even believe that the sea sponge lives without muscles, tissues, or a digestive system. I wonder how that through out millions of years of evolution and change in earth's climate, these basic sponges have survived. If you want to learn more about these amazing creatures, click here

I am in awe at how the ocean can command superiority over man and all of his technology with the meteorological mystery that is the hurricane. I cannot even grasp how these storms can get so destructive. Overall, I will never exactly know what is in the ocean nor do I want to.
