GENEALOGY of the MARTEL FAMILY

First we look at the CONNECTIONS between the MARTEL, MARSOLAIS MARSOLET DORVAL LEPROHON DORVAL TURCOTTE CHENAULT MIREAULT which were the most evident in the case of the marriages of the nine children of Bonaventure (Senez) Lemire-Marsolet and his first wife, Elisabeth Mireault. Bonaventure would marry a second time to HELENE ROUSSIN and have another twelve (12) children, giving him a total of 21 children. Afterwards we will look at the story of the individual families, and finally there will be LINKS to different MARTEL websites

BONAVENTURE was a direct descendant of Nicholas Marsolet de St-Aignan and Marie LeBarbier, tru their second daughter, LOUISE MARSOLET and JEAN LEMIRE

Honore Martel, venu de Paris,
marie a Marguerite L'Admiraut, d'Auxerre,
s'etait etabli a Quebec en 1668;
sa nombreuse posterite s'est repandue jusqu'a L'Assomption, s'unissant aux JANOT de la Longue-Pointe, aux GARIEPY de LaChenaye, aux CREVIER de Vercheres.

Quelques-uns des pretres descendants de la famille d'Honore Martel:
* FRANCOIS MARTEL, fils de Jean Martel et Marie Rouville, cure de St-Laurent, Ile d'Orleans, pendant 32 ans
* Joseph Nicolas Martel, fils de Jean Martel et Marie Rouville, successeur de son frere Francois Martel a la meme cure. Decede en 1772.
*M. Joseph Martel, fils de Pierre Martel et Marie-Anne Roy, de Montreal, decede a la cure de Ste-Marie en 1800
* Pierre-Rene Ambroise Martel, ordonne en 1775 et decede a Sorel en 1805

Les autres souches de Martel sont Raymond Martel, seigneur de LaChenaye, marie a Marie-Anne Trottier de Batiscan, qu'epousa en 1712 Louis Audet de Pierrecot, sieur de Bailleul (Il venait de Bayonne)

marie a Charlotte Charest dit Levi,
qui venait aussi de Bayonne
C'est de cette branche que venait Marie-Anne Martel epouse de Bonaventure Lemire, etant la fille de Joseph Levi-Martel et de Marie-Anne Leonard dit Mondor.

Son marriage fut fait en presence de Bonaventure Lemire, pere de l'epoux, de Joseph Benoni Lemire, son oncle, de Joseph-Levi Martel, pere de l'epouse, de Joseph Abraham Martel et Jean Baptiste Martel, ses freres.

Louise Elisabeth Moreau, daughter of Marie Madeleine Lemire and Pierre Moreau, grand-daughter of Louise Marsolet & Jean Lemire was baptised in 1691,
married Jourdain Lajoix (Lajus) Chief of the Doctors in Bearn, France (major des medecins de Nay en Bearn).

Jourdain Lajus was witness in a donation/legacy between Antoine Bordeleau and his son Antoine Bordeleau and a renunciation by his son-in-law Courtaut which was a Guillaume Roger Contract, of October 4 1700 [Contrat Guillaume Roger, 4 octobre 1700
