Friends Tribute to Lynda |
Lynda will live on in the memories and hearts of her friends and family. She put up a valiant fight against all odds. She was a mentor to many...always sharing of herself. The time she spent offering critiques encouraged all of us to do our best. I finally got to meet Lynda in person in 2004 in Kitchener, ON after several years of e-mailing back and forth. I designed her website for her and then taught her how to maintain it and add to it. I really felt privileged to have done that for her. It will remain a tribute to her memory. She may have left this world, but her spirit will continue to guide us in our work and our promotion of pyrography as an art. Our memories of Lynda and her artwork will endure the test of time. Rest in peace my dear friend. God Bless You and your family. "Keep burning and learning". Hugs...Danette Smith (Dannie) If you would like to add a tribute to Lynda....email me and I will add it Thank you...Danette |

It was with great sadness that I learned of the
passing of Lynda Eaves of Canada.
Lynda lived in a remote place in Canada and loved it that way. I think she felt closer to her wolves that she loved so much and that were the main focus of her pyrographic art. Lynda was the first person to have a gathering of pyro artists! Despite her fragile health, she organized the first international pow-wow from our group and held it on her own property! By all accounts it was a big success, the beginning and strengthening of many friendships, and certainly was a brave step forward for our burgeoning community. Her health may have been fragile, but her spirit was brave and strong. On another occasion when she was ill, she was sent a present of a tagua pendant of a wolf from Sue Walters. Lynda thoughtfully and generously took it upon herself to enter the pendant by Sue in a woodcarvers show in Canada that she herself was competing in, and proudly told how Sue's pendant had won Best in Show! Her spirit was magnanimous. I knew Lynda through her pyrographic art, especially her work on Canadian hardwood burls for which she is so well known. I featured her work in an article for the internet called Pyrograffiti... "http://carverscompanion.com/Ezine/Vol4Issue1/KMenendez/KMenendez.html" and proudly displayed her works in the E-Museum of Pyrographic Art... "http://www.geocities.com/Paris/Rue/4029/leaves.html" I was looking forward to meeting Lynda in person this summer at Cheryl Dow's Woodburning Celebration. What a disappointment that Lynda--except in spirit--will not be a part of that! My condolences to her family and friends and all of the pyro community of artists. Kathleen M.
