"Ain't He Bad" is another great disco update from First Choice! Class A female diva vocals as expected and killer remixes from the Harlem Husters and Beginerz! What would the fall season be without a new First Choice track! The cd features; Harlem Husters Electro Club Edit and MIx, and Beginerz Club Mix! Have a listen, let's not waste words!
It certainly has been the year for Euro trance duos! Milk Inc. returns with "Walk On Water." This is another VERY commerically oriented trance vocal track! Maybe it is too cheesey for the major trance heads! The riffs are nice as well as the vocals but this has a slight cheese factor and the "Stella" underwater sonar "bleep" mixed into song! This is the follow up to "In My Eyes" which I liked better! This cd features: H2O Radio Edit-it even has a nice freestyle breaks feel, Flip & Fill deliever a more appealing trance version that has a slightly epic feel with an ominous twist, Frank Trax vs O.R.G.A.N. Remix-takes the track completely away from the cheese and loses most of vocals and goes totally epic! A full length is coming soon, so move over Lasgo!
It's more milk this week with Milky! Multiply has been pumping out the hits this season! "Just The Way You Are" from Milky is simply beautiful! Very nice radio friendly female vocals and top notch production from the best in teh biz make this track soar! The vocals are rather contemporay and the guitar adds a "more than dance" feel! This cd features; Radio Edit, Full Intention Mix-perfect FI disco house, but it sadly loses some of the vocals, and Almighty Mix-pumps up the house beats and goes full on with the vocals! I have a promo with a very weird Liquid People mix, not found on this cd!
Opus III's Kirsty Hawkshaw provides the delightful vocals on the latest outing from Way Out West! "Stealth" is formula WOW all the way! Plenty of WOW keyboards and synths with only a slight commerical feel blending house and trance! This is a big one! This cd features; Radio Edit, Way Out West Club Mix, and Rennie & Pilgrim Commie Remix-too proggy and noisey-the Quivver mix should have been on this cd single!
Azuli is another label that has had a great season! "Little Brother" is a soulful house romp that has a nice chill feel! If you liked the Brother Brown Frankee stuff (similar name but not the same artist), then this is for you! The Original Mix was better for me as the R. Montanari Mixes are a bit too vocaless and deep tribal! Maxine Barker's voice is empathetic and angelic to only add a few adjectives!
"How Many" says she is back and FIERCE as ever! Taylor Dayne is still one of the best in the music business! The mixes come from Friburn and Urik-big tribal house anthem stuff and Guido Osorio-more a circuit party commerical house mix. Additional less commercial mixes are from Menergy and Lifestylus! Dubs for each mixer are included in the doublel vinyl set. No cd singles yet!
Milk and Sugar release "I Got This Feeling" with the vocal talents of Angie Brown! This is one well produced disco houser that comes in a two part vinyl! It has been hard to get since it came out but you can download it from the internet! The only part with decent mixes is the first! This is the follow up to "Tower of Love" also featuring Miss Brown on the same label! This is the part two audio file!
Josez Nunez samples up "My Own Way"( the second track on Rio) from Duran Duran on his latest Subliminal (retro styled) release-"Air Race"! There are two mixes, Main Mix and Dronez-annoying! One listen to this track and you will recognize the original song and Simon Le Bon's vocals! Very Nice!
Lost Language reissues "Seven Cities" from Solar Stone! Armin Van Buuren mixes this already epic song into an incredible upscale trance masterpiece! This time around we have some pretty ethereal vocals added! The classic keyboard is still there is all of it's glory! The cd features; Radio Edit-full vocals, Armin Van Buuren Remix, and Ambient dub. Sadly, the V-One and Micheal Woods mixes are missing and are worth a listen!
"Feelin High (Thinking Of You)" and "Your'e Mine" (the audio files are not for each song but are actually samples from each part of the vinyl) come our way from Chris Lum on Hooj! This is some fucked up experimental shit! There are some good versions on this release! "Feelin High" has two mixes, Original-too weird and progressive for me, and Nova Scotia Mix-which takes the track in a jazzy sophisticated direction, the samples are of a girl talking about drugs! There is an accapella too! "Your'e Mine" is the big track on this release-both Original and Clean Versions that feature the timeless (if not over-used) samples of Sweet Pussy Pauline! This track is fairly driven with a tribal edge and good for all floors! Chris Lum hails from San Francisco and these were recorded at Moulton Studios which have been doing a lot teh recent Defected label remixes!
